Go back to all the good things you liked or heard about the Green Hornet-smart man, working the angles from outside the law. being challenged by criminals, the police and his own newspaper reporters! How can he hold them all off and clean up his city? With his wits, his gadgets and KATO (who I always see as Bruce Lee in my mind!) who is not a side kick but an equal force for justice.
There might be chance for another Hornet movie or TV show (The Shield or Sons of A writers take note here) and these stories should be read to show how things could work, how the characters can be FAITHFULLY translated to more modern stories.
If you like the recent Hornet movie or hated it and would still like to know why these characters have lasted for about 75 years - order now! The short stories can be read one every two nights or so for a longer lasting reading and pleasure experience!

Last summer I read the Green Hornet Chronicles (also an anthology book) and liked it so much I decided to follow up with this one. Casefiles suffered from a sophomore slump. The stories were simply not as riveting as in Chronicles and were quite perfunctory; some introduced characters who "seemed" to be important and then they were left behind. One story even read like an outline of the intended story.
It wasn't until I had finished and reviewed the table of contents that I noticed almost all of the stories were exactly 18 pages long (not a one of them is longer than 20 pages). Was this an editorial mandate? If so it didn't work. The stories simply didn't have the "room" to develop a proper plot or character development.

I love it. Not a comic. If you like GH stories you’ll love it.

Joe Gentile, Win Scott Eckert, and 19 other talented authors have outdone themselves with this second anthology based on the classic television series, and have certainly far outdone the travesty produced by Mssrs. Gondry, Rogen, and Goldberg. The contributors to this tome treat this enduring property with the respect it is due, rather than the smirking self-congratulatory "humor" those Hollywood hacks injected into their film. Unlike those gentlemen, these writers allow the character his dignity and don't change the mythos beyond recognition. Moonstone has always stayed true to the spirit of the classic characters they have worked with, and this excellent work is no exception. Bravo to the authors; their love for the Hornet shines through every page of this book...which is more than I can say for the "filmmakers" named above.

I have to admit, after seeing the latest movie of the Green Hornet, I thought that my wonderful memories of the 60's TV show were dead...except for video. NOT SO! These short stories are so close to the show it's scary. The only real difference is the setting - here we are in Detroit ( home of the radio series) as opposed to the TV show LA (though never really specified. All the characters are brought back to life. With all due respect to Van Williams and Bruce Lee, these characters are a bit more edgier...not having to compete with Batman and Robin. Any Green Hornet fan MUST have this collection!

Enjoyed this one quite a bit as a nostalgic Boomer and wish Moonstone was still pubbing GH anthologies.
