GREEN LANTERN: NEW GUARDIANS VOL.1: THE RING BEARER collecting issues #1-7. Kyle Rayner is enjoying his current life back on Earth, following the events of Green Lantern: War of the Green Lanterns (Green Lantern (Graphic Novels)). Kyle and the various members of the other corp begin a quest to get to the bottom of things while dealing with a new evil that has made its presence known to the galaxy.
This is currently my favorite of the New 52 GL books and I always look forward to Bedard's writing and Kirkham's illustrations.
Well, I was slightly curious about that, especially considering the cover to the first issue showed Kyle and half a dozen other Lanterns of various colors reaching for a variety of rings hovering in the air above them. In GREEN LANTERN: The New Guardians' first story arc, "The Ring Bearer", Kyle Rayner is still Green Lantern #4 for earth's space sector, 2814, and from the outset we see he's probably the least popular GL around. Everyone prefers Hal or John, and rightfully so. But Kyle's a man with feelings too, you know. And when he comes to the rescue after a crane starts to break free from the skyscraper it's attached to, he's no one's least favorite then. And just as he's finishing up the rescue, he's suddenly bombarded with six more power rings just like the green one he wears. See, what happens with the power rings is, when their original wearer dies or is decommissioned from his corps, the ring finds a new replacement in the same space sector. And whatever's happened to these original rings' wearers, the rings have all chosen Kyle Rayner as the successor.Read more ›
