I thought this relatively low priced product was too good to be true, and only tried it because I read that Green Vibrance, the alternative I have used in the past, contains contaminants. I came across an article by Markham Heid in the July 2013 issue of Prevention (http://www.prevention.com/food/smart-shopping/your-green-drink-more-hazard-health) summarizing the results of a survey of supplements by ConsumerLab earlier that month (http://www.consumerlab.com/news/greens_whole_foods_review_released/07_08_2013/ - the details of the results are not public but Prevention disclosed that Green Max was ConsumerLabs approved, along with Juice Plus, which is far more expensive and marketed through a network).
To be fair, Vibrant Health, the maker of Green Vibrance, responded the same month by claiming that the ConsumerLab study failed to distinguish between "naturally occurring" arsenic and arsenic that is manufactured, and that Vibrant Health is very careful with its ingredients that its customers have been using for many years (http://wolfcrowell.wix.com/wolf#!vibrant-health-arsenic-response/chpn). I've used Green Vibrance on and off and most recently for the past few months. Still, why take chances in ingesting contaminants over a long period of time when there is a cheaper product that does not have them? Oh, and by the way, this product is the best tasting of all the supplement powders I have tried.
You can purchase a 1 month supply for about a third of the cost of comparable brands.
Comes in a hefty container, ALL ingrediants listed with detailed break-downs of the "obligatory" propriatory blend. Scoop included.
My only quibble is that the taste is rather bland. Many 'Green Foods' have a spirulina flavor as well, usually enhanced with a hint of lemon or something. Green Max Powder could use that extra "something". Be creative if taste is your thing.
However for the price and the quality of the product this is great.I use 2 scoops in a 16oz water bottle, shaken, once a day.
UPDATE 4-20-15: I've noticed in the Swanson monthly catalog as well as their web site that this product has gone through a price change. It use to be $12.99 in the catalog but is now $14.99. That is in the powdered form (not capsules).
Don't think I'll re-order but don't let that sway you. You should definitely try it for yourself.
