I started with the TL:DR summaries at the end of each chapter, then read further in depth in the chapters I was most interested in first.
This book intends to shift the reader's paradigm on how much control they have on their health.
Ansett does warn she has an agenda against the "disease-care system." I probably would be more sceptical if it weren't for a chance to visit with a 90+ year old holocaust survivior, Rose. Rose impacted me with a message of "food is medicine." Because I took Rose's message to heart, I am more open to Ansett's.
I see no harm in trying what Ansett says. I am not burdened by the need of prescribed medication, so it's not a risk to me to try. I am overweight so this addition of leafy greens and fruit to my diet is suggested by by both the big bad guys and Ansett. What Ansett adds in this book is her guidance of how to listen to my body and how to easily and economically feed myself.
I laughed out loud at the idea of marketing to my husband. I will give it a try after I gain a testimony myself. I do want to market to myself. I was tickled by these chapters and have visited them more frequently than the others, minus the one about easily preping fruits.
Regardless of her point of view kylie has one goal in mind: improving your health. As someone who has already used non conventional health care to not only improve my own health but to flourish, I found this book fascinating!
We all know we need more greens in our lives, and that green smoothies are a great way to achieve this, but most of us lack the motivation to make the effort. Yes I'm including myself in this assessment! Ansett provides a much needed slap to the face with chapter after chapter of health benefits to drinking green smoothies on a daily basis, along with some scrumptious recipes. I made a banana, pear, parsley and English spinach one today and get this: my husband and daughter both loved it and requested more. Shut the front door. Really enjoyed and highly recommend if you're looking for something a bit more than simple recipes.
Kylie has a writing style that makes her reader feel they are sitting a chatting with her.
Yes, there are recipes scattered throughout the book (and another offering of just recipes). But her main goal is in
helping her reader know the nutritional reasons why dark greens (and that combining them with fruit is okay) are what our
bodies need to get the best dense nutrient values. Although she takes on the medical establishment for not being clearly instructive,
what she says are true to what many of us have experienced. She does not negate the need in many situations to get medical help if it is wisely dispensed but she advocates that we get to know our bodies needs nutritionally - don't be afraid to dive in with the right kind of 'green smoothie' regimen and work toward a better quality of life. Highly recommended.

I have made smoothies on and off for the past 20 years but rarely added 'greens'. Now that I know how to vary my 'green' intake and how to marry the flavours according to what my body is telling me it wants on a daily basis, and what a great illness-prevention system green smoothies are, I will! The blender is back out of the cupboard!
Be warned though - this isn't a 21-day detox or a diet. It's a new way of life for you, 'your new normal ... [integrating] this elixir of health into everyday life'. And once you know the what, the how, the who and the why, you'll just want to make smoothies, every day.
Ansett tells it how she sees it, with her controversial take on the medical system and demystifies the keys to improving optimal health, boosting the immune system, weight loss and improving your skin, digestion and gut health. While also bringing awareness to our bodies innate ability to heal itself, along with solutions to assist the process.
Love it and highly recommend you check it out!
