This battery is awesome! I have a Mid-2012 Macbook Pro 13 inch and I have had this laptop for about 4 years now and the only thing that was lacking for me was the battery life. After, I placed in this battery, it basically feels like a new laptop. I've attached a screenshot for my stats below in terms of how well the battery does function. I had over 650 charges on my previous battery so it definitely needed a replacement. With this new battery I am getting over 5 hours of normal usage. Nothing that's overwhelming to the processor, mostly I'm browsing the web, watching a few videos and have about 3-4 programs running simultaneously. Honestly, that's pretty great with a mac this old. Disclaimer: I did upgrade my hard drive to a solid state drive, and these tend to increase battery life over the old hard drives.

As for installing the battery, the process is pretty simple. If you as an outside source to do it such as Apple they will charge you upwards of $200. This is something anyone can do with some time and effort. I have to warn you though, removing the battery will void your apple warranty if you still happen to have apple care. This comes with all the tools you'll need and I've outlined the steps below. The tools are also great cause they're magnetic and makes the process easier.

1) First make sure to charge the old battery to about 50%. This will prolong the battery life and if you'd like to go back to the old one in a couple of months or years, it will protect the battery. Also note, there are 3 long screws that go into the holes in the back 3 from the right. The others are all small.

2) Completely shut down you mac

3) Use the (2.0 +) screwdriver to remove the outer casing in the back. Make sure you keep the screws safe and be gentle with them.

I have a MacBook Pro 13 inch (Mid-2009). My trackpad stopped working about 2 years ago and I figured the whole computer was about to go the way of the stegosaurus. After about a year of only "tap to click" functionality I decided to take the machine apart to see if I could make some sort of adjustment.

Upon taking the bottom off the laptop, I was greeted with the warning sticker for removing the battery. Said it would void the warranty. Since it seems the warranty from any Apple product I've ever owned has lasted me about the time it takes to get the product home I dove in like Greg Louganis. When I took the battery out, it looked like a hot pocket. Except the contents had not dripped out the side but instead were in the middle, bulging out from both sides. The swollen battery was pressing against my trackpad, preventing the click.

Since I am a chronic procrastinator, for the next year I had my laptop taped to its power cord, since it had to be plugged into the wall to be used and to stay on. I recently made the plunge to update my MacBook Pro. Went all out.

Got new RAM, a new SSD, and this new battery. AND WOW! My laptop feels like it performs better than it did when it was brand new. I can now carry my laptop around without the power cord taped on! I no longer look like a vagrant at the coffee shop who has to deny other customers access to the wall outlet. It no longer looks like I have an explosive device held together with sloppy electrical tape when I walk into the library. This product has changed my life.

It seems ludicrous, and honestly dangerous, that the battery in a piece of high technology like a MBP would swell up to the point of impeding functionality, but I am here to tell you that very tale. Just get this battery. It is a good value and will immediately pay for itself in the renewed portability, functionality, and reliability of your machine! Do it.

I am really loving that I was able to get a great battery at a really affordable price. I bought an app called Battery Health and it showed me that the battery was made *very recently*, and that the charge is substantial. I'm looking forward to the last of my upgrades, an SSD. Between those things and the RAM upgrade, this old Mac is running better than ever.

My mid 2010 13" MacBook Pro was having issues with the pointer going crazy, damn thing had a mind of its own and was really pissing me off. So, I did a Google and discovered that the batteries in these MacBooks, with age, will start to swell. The trackpad sits right on top of the battery, and when it swells, it puts pressure on the bottom side of the pad and runs the pointer all over the place. So, I figured that my MacBook is six years old, must be the factory battery getting a bit long in the tooth. Well, it was swollen, and the new one is now in place. It was an easy install, fit like a glove and love the two included screwdrivers, which allowed me to fix this on the road.

So far, the battery works great and my pointer/trackpad issues are now gone with the wind! Gotta love these MacBooks, I have more than a few PC laptops at the house, we use them as door stops... I don't think one of them lasted more than a few months before I pitched them. This silly little Mac just continues to amaze me, six years and she is still going, most of that time traveling the country getting tossed around like an old sock. Just WOW is all I can say.

Update! My old battery swelling wiped out my track pad! New trackpad installed, NEW OEM A1278 Macbook Pro Unibody 13" Trackpad 2009 2010 2011 2012 and all is well! I saved replacing my 6 year old MacBook Pro spending $80 on a new battery and trackpad? $80 vs a new MacBook? A no brainer in my book!
