Top customer reviews
I worked as a groundskeeper on a golf course for 6 years, and did more weed eating than I'd like to remember. And this is my 2nd electric weed eater to have owned personally. Point being I have a decent idea of how to operate one of these things. I tried different spools because I had bought extra. I tried completely unwinding and rewinding a spool. No luck. I'm going to have to order something else at this point, so my advice to anyone reading this is to just stay away from this particular product.
I bought this to go along with my chainsaw, uses the same battery. The tool seems almost as well constructed as the chainsaw.
The problem is the auto feed. I know how they work and this auto feed is horrible. Maybe it is not so much the auto feed but the .65 wire it uses is so thin it breaks faster than it feeds. I did buy new after market line the same size and still have the same problem. Maybe an auto feed of this type with a more durable thicker line might work. Very disappointed.
I had plans of buying other items in this line of Gmax tools. I will have to do more research on the individual tools before purchasing.
I have been using it all summer and I hate it. I have to open the bottom of the feed up to manually add extra line constantly
I am sorry to read about your experience with our string trimmer and the troubles you're having with the auto-feed feature. This is a single line string trimmer and is best used for light to medium duty tasks. To advance line you must release the start trigger, each time this is done 1/4" of line will extend. This will have to be done more frequently when the string trimmer is used in harsher terrain conditions, or when used for edging. Edging for this unit should be kept to light edging, as this is a single line string trimmer.
Please be advised that you if you wish to extend line manually, you do not have to remove the cover. If there is enough line left on the spool, simply pull the line and push the black release button located on the side of the spool hub to release additional line. Here's a video that will show you how to do this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vHql7s0ZNmw&index=37&list=PLlLcNiMNCMn_Qgcl7B3d1ly97pzCRZvjj.
We do manufacturer a variety of different string trimmer units and would gladly discuss these options in more detail with you. Here are some of our other G-Max 40v models that's have dual line and thicker line.
The benefit of the dual line and a thicker line is that it will be able to handle thicker, denser and longer weeds. However, it will be heavier than model 21332. If you wish to discuss this information in more detail, please feel free to contact us at 1-888-909-6757.
Also, as noted, this is not a bump trimmer and I too have experienced issues with the line feed, where I have to stop trimming, take the line trimmer cover off, feed it more line, and put the cover back on and start trimming.
Power if very good for a battery-operated unit. Also, not all parts are covered by warranty like string trimmer cover, so when it breaks, expect to shell out more money or you will then have a large paperweight.
I am happy to see that you like the power of this tool. The auto-feed function releases 1/4" of line each time the start trigger is pushed. Please be advised that you may need to periodically release the trigger to eject additional line. If there is any questions or concerns that we may be able to address for you, please feel free to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call our customer support line at 1-888-909-6757.
Thank for taking the time to leave reviews on our products. Please allow me to go over how the auto-feed line advancement works. The string trimmer will release approximately 1/4" of line each time the trigger is pulled. As you use the string trimmer, you will periodically release the trigger. This is different from the bump feed line advancement as you are required to tap the bottom of the spool hub to release line. For this string trimmer you just have to let go of the trigger handle. The more often you do this, the more line will release.
Please be advised if you're choosing to manually release the line. You do not have to remove the cover to do this. There is a quick line release button located on the spool hub. Pull the line as you push the release button and additional line will extend. Here's a video on how to change the line and it also shows you how to manually release line https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vHql7s0ZNmw&list=PLlLcNiMNCMn_Qgcl7B3d1ly97pzCRZvjj&index=37.
If the line does not auto advance, the trimmer line may be tangled or empty.
Some of the reasons a line may become tangled or jammed are:
*Strings are welded to together try lubricating with silicone spray.
*Not enough string on spool. Install more string or replace the spool with replacement spools https://www.amazon.com/GreenWorks-29252-3-Pack-Replacement-Trimmer/dp/B004EPXIA6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1501786681&sr=8-1&keywords=greenworks+single+line+spool.
*Strings are worn too short. Disconnect the string trimmer from the power supply, then push the spool retainer button in while pulling on strings to manually advance the strings.
*Strings are tangled on spool, remove strings from spool and rewind.
If you continue to experience difficulty with line advancement, please contact us at 1-888-909-6757 for further assistance.
