On the bottom of the blower there is a gate / cover that protects the user from getting into the spinning impeller of the blower. In order to use the blower as a Vac, this gate is opened and a collection tube is inserted to allow for leaf pick. There is a safety switch on this gate and if the gate becomes unlatched during use as a blower, it will not allow the blower to run. Please ask the customer to check to assure that the gate is securely latched and try the battery again.

Top customer reviews
Got it over a month ago from Amazon. Ran it as a blower to clean out my garage. Ran Fine. Then it didn't...
Tried to run it again this morning (second run) as a Vacuum and it would not start. It started beeping (but NOT running) and wouldn't stop until I hit the off button. Tried 3 batteries - no change. Tried reverting back to the blower attachments no luck. Called Greenworks. They said I had tried everything reasonable and that I would have to take it to a service center. I told them I didn't want some knucklehead taking a brand new unit apart in the hopes he could find something. They would not provide a new replacement so I figured I would try and fix it myself. (Better than some joker at a lawn parts store...)
Anyway, I examined it carefully. Found interlocks on the suction side (bottom) and on the discharge (front). If I opened the bottom suction screen the unit wouldn't do anything at all. Close the suction screen up and it started beeping. I figured this meant that the bottom interlock was communicating properly with the unit. I then tried running the blower with nothing attached to the discharge (nozzle or bag). Since both these conditions resulted in the exact same beep error, I figured the nozzle/discharge interlock must not be effectively detecting the nozzle (or bag) attachment and that the beep code was trying to indicate "no nozzle/bag found". Too bad the company couldn't/wouldn't tell me exactly what the beep code meant...
The nozzle/discharge interlock can be seen when looking directly into the discharge opening. It is a small metal plug at the top edge of the discharge opening. It is spring loaded and will be pushed back when the nozzle of bag is attached. I very carefully used a small screwdriver to push the spring loaded interlock back into the housing while trying to run the unit (while NOT looking into the discharge). Presto - the unit starts running. I exercised the switch back and forth a couple times (with the unit off) in the hopes this might help clear any debris/corrosion/etc from the switch and now it seems to be working fine. I didn't even have to take the unit apart!
Hope this helps somebody if there unit is beeping. It would be nice if the company could simply suggest tweaking the switch a couple of times before they tell you to take down to some repair shop...
The 40v 4AH battery lasts almost 45 minutes, depending on the power setting -- which depends on the type of leaves and condition.
Two switches control on/off and hi/low, plus a variable dial for speed. Seems to me, they could have incorporated hi/low function into the speed control because having a separate hi/low switch is an extra step.
At maximum power (needed for vacuuming) it only lasts 15 minutes, so I use extra battery packs from other G-Max tools I own.
The suction is insufficient for some smaller/heavier leaves -- they get sucked in, but tend not to get discharged unless broader leaves are also used, even at maximum power. Also, needle-like leaves tend to get stuck underneath the sensor wire at discharge nozzle.
For this reason, I would suggest getting the blower-only model if you do not need the vacuum function.
FYI - I also use Toro 51609 blower/vac which is excellent! It is AC-corded, so it is pain to drag out extension cords, but it is more powerful and the work can be done in about third of the time compared to this GreenWorks DigiPro. I use the DigiPro cordless when it is too far from the outlet, though.
The charger is disappointing. It wastes power even when not charging and they say to unplug it when not in use. It is a pain when several chargers are used. Two LEDs indicate power and charging status. There is a label wrapped around the plug that explain how to interpret the LED color and blinking status. This could have been better handled if they printed the marking next to the actual LED or just added a couple of LEDs.
