From the Manufacturer
Greenlee's long nose pliers are molded grip side cutting pliers. The pliers are forged from through-hardened chrome vanadium steel for greater durability, strength and a longer lifetime. They effectively cut both solid and stranded copper wire. The pliers feature diamond-serrated jaws and hardened cutting edges that optimize cutting and gripping performance. They also feature a wider grip design that provides a larger load bearing area. The slip-proof, ergonomic molded grips allow for increased comfort and reduced user fatigue. The Greenlee long nose pliers are a great addition to any tool kit.

Greenlee used to be a great commercial electrical tool manufacturer. However, I was shocked (no pun intended) to discover these $33 Greenlee needle nose pliers are not to be used for electrical work - I noticed that on the packaging AFTER shredding the TS SCI encrypted plastic container with a heavy duty razor knife. The packaging requires serious tools in their own right just to get through all of that plastic welding. There is no reason any pliers should be sold in a bullet resistant plastic case (bit of exaggeration I do admit; however, I have bought several hundred dollar power tools without this much anti-theft packaging).
Not only was the plastic wrapping forged by Zeus himself using lightning bolts, but these Greenlee pliers "Will not prevent electric shock ... NOT insulated" is quietly stamped on the tool and, in small print, is listed on the packaging. The only reason I bought these were to use them as Greenlee tools have always been used - on electrical jobs that require very sturdy, professional grade, electrical tools that blue collar professionals can actually afford. For the price of these I could have bought two sets of 8" non insulated Channellock needle nosed pliers even though I already have two pair of those in my mechanical tool box - in other words I would have spent that much ransom on tools that can actually perform as their namesake is known for - on electrical components.
Once I was able to blast the plastic off, I took it out to the shop for a moment or too in order to try it out.
Build wise, I prefer the Channellock 8" pliers to these as the Greenlee rubberized handles are chunky and blocky, which is odd considering the blocky / chunky plastic handles are NOT INSULATED.
The slim and tactile feel of the Channellock pliers' handles are perfect for when you need a NON INSULATED tool; however, these Greenlees cost twice as much as a good set of NON insulated pliers.
I am now very untrusting of Greenlee following this purchase, which is a shame as I have poured my own money, my company's money, and have even recommended a lot of Greenlee products to customers and friends for over a decade. Guess I need to start buying Wiha tools as I cannot trust my life to Greenlee when on the job apparently now that they sneak in expensive tools that are not rated for anything remotely related to the industry that everyone associates Greenlee with - electrical tools, gear, and testing devices.
Non-insulated tools made by an electrician's tool manufacturer while costing as much as insulated tools made by that same company, and made by many competitor companies? Maybe Greenlee should branch out into manufacturing summer dresses, or plastic beach toys for kids to play in the sand with? After all both of those items easily would cost over $30 from several sources and they both offer about the same amount of insulation as do these pliers.
