Huge warning to save others the trouble I've been through. Greenworks has changed this trimmer in 2018 and it no longer uses replacement spool 29622. You cannot order a replacement spool on Amazon for this trimmer. I called Greenworks, spent 20 mins on hold to ask them, and they said I could order directly from them. Normally I like to have 2-3 spools and then I used replacement line, which is much less expensive and usually performs better than OEM line.
The lack of replacement spools (read the reviews for part #29622 if you doubt me) is a big deal to me as I don't want to have to wait weeks for this to ship from the manufacturer. I want to be able to "buy it now" here on Amazon and have new spools ready to go.
Sorry, it's a great trimmer aside from that, and hope they correct this. Easy fix.
Hope this helps and I'll update this review if Amazon does indeed begin carrying the spools.

I wanted to allow a couple of complete mowing cycles before giving my feedback on the "Green Work", And —YES!— I COULDN'T BE HAPPIER WITH IT!
This machine is extremely powerful, solidly built, and it is aesthetically pleasing too. It can compete in all respects with her much higher-maintenance gasoline 'colleagues', and it is much more environmentally friendly. It is also very suitable for a tall person (I am 6'3").
THREE RECOMMENDATIONS:
1. DON'T CUT CORNERS ON THE EXTENSION CORD! Especially if you, as I did, opt for a 100 footer, buy a good 12 GAUGE one (not a 14 gauge, even less so a 16!). As I have said, the "Green Work" 's 10 amp. engine is super-powerful, and it would overheat and —ultimately— suffer with a thinner cord. When I called "Green Work" for an advice, they told me that a 10 gauge (the maximum, I believe) would be even better; but, trust me, 12 gauge is perfect. I used my mower in full August Virginia sun, for up to 6 hours in a row, and it never overheated.
2. USE A VELCRO STRAP INSTEAD. One of the most recurring complaints about the Mod. "21142" is HOW HARD ITS TRIGGER IS. I must admit that, despite being a strong, athletic man, I had to struggle with this issue myself, by resting for a few seconds —every couple of minutes— due to the trigger's very high tension (unfortunately, by law there can't be any 'freeze' option). Needless to say, this necessity greatly delayed my overall mowing time. But, yesterday, I came up with one of those 'genius' ideas that can make you feel very happy, an idea I now want to share with you. With a 9-10" VELCRO STRAP you can easily block the trigger in the 'on' position, you can finally relax your right hand and thus fully enjoy your mowing experience. (As opposed to a regular string or to a rubber band, a velcro strap is very quick to be released and this aspect, of course, is crucial for your safety, here). The Mod. "21142" is a real 'mule', and with this new possibility I make it work in continuous mode...What a luxury!
3. WHEN CHANGING THE LINE FOLLOW THIS VIDEO'S PRECIOUS INSTRUCTIONS! Another problem many customers complain about is the new spool type (black head vs. green head) that Mod. "21142" now assembles. The manual doesn't make any reference to it, and I know of several customers who literally went crazy trying to figure out how to change the line in this new spool. The following June 2016 video, "Green Works" kindly sent me upon request, is thus A REAL LIFESAVER: [...]

Unit seems well made, a beast of a trimmer. It is heavy but has a shoulder strap to carry the weight. It goes through weeds like a starving goat. Wear long pants and goggles to protect yourself. Bottom of spool shows line wind direction. And there are Greenworks YouTube clips to help also.
Personal preference is to have one or more extra spools pre-wound with cord ready for use rather than taking time to wind when I run out, so ordered the suggested extra spool as well as the Oregon cord. I used some old 0.095 cord and also some old 0.065 cord when what came with the 21142 Trimmer ran out and before the separately shipped Oregon 0.80 and spool arrived. Both worked. Looked at the 29622 trimmer spool and immediately questioned it. Got the trimmer and saw that the original spool has an integral raised bump knob which the 29622 does not. The 29622 spool IS THE WRONG ONE. Wrote Amazon and they credited the 29622. But when I searched both Amazon and Google I could not find a seller for the correct spool, #31108836 as shown on page 20 of the Greenworks manual. A problem.
Otherwise the brief use of the trimmer on two separate days seemed fine. An issue that will get worse in my case is that to change the line, the spool needs to be firmly grasped on two sides and tabs pressed in. The spool is about 3 1/2" wide, is sturdy, so takes a good sized hand with strong fingers to do change the line. My hand is large, but age is taking strength. Thinking a large hardy male could conveniently handle line changing while an older or smaller person would have substantial difficulty. In light of no extra spools being available, I may search for an aftermarket "universal" replacement head that perhaps has an easier way to service string changing, though do not currently know if that is a possibility.

one of the more disappointing purchases on Amazon. Worked pretty good for about 10 minutes in the front yard and then 10-15 in the back yard. After that the spool of string had completely run out. (I believe the Amps/power of this totally outmatches the strength of the string so it needs a thicker string, trimmers with 1/2 this power use the same string. Main problem was that after about 5 minutes the top motor part came loose with the bottom trimming attachment. This made them turn loosely with the handle and trimmer coming misaligned. I "fixed" this about 3 times, double checking the included instructions but I was doing it properly and as tightly as possible. The only thing preventing this from happening is a small push button that pops out to lock the 2 parts together. This easily unlocks while in use but the tightening coupling keeps the 2 parts technically connected. Seemed like a great product to be able to use different attachments but all this has done is create the spot where this is guaranteed to fail.
