I got this game because I thought it could spur some dinnertime conversation with my kids. However, I think you really do need to be 10 and up to enjoy it. You have to have lived some stories to tell! The cards each have a phrase and you are supposed to go around the table and tell a story from your life that focuses on that phrase. For example: memorable vacation. I think these cards would be handy in a team building exercise or in some setting where a group is trying to get to know each other better. There are four ways to play and the one I was most interested in was where you choose a card and the story you tell can either be true or false. Then everyone guesses true or false. You get points for fooling your opponents. I know everything my family has done, so none of the kids were able to trick me! ; )

I think this could be a lot of fun with the right group - a bunch who love to reminisce or want to learn more about each other. I can definitely see my five aunts getting a kick out of answering each others cards and will probably take it to our next family reunion.

We got this game and were totally unimpressed. Yes, it's a "getting-to-know-you" game, but it's really lame, in my opinion. All the cards have the a word or two written on them (in 5 different languages) and you're supposed to come up with a story about yourself that goes with that topic. For example, "A Scar" means you tell a story in which you got or gave a scar. If you don't have a scar or haven't given anyone else a scar or your scar stories are lame, then I guess you would skip this. Other examples are a Funny story or a kid story or one of about a thousand other stories. We had the problem that it took forever to come up with a decent story that was true about any given card so we all sit there and stare at the walls for several minutes trying to think up a story. You'd be better off just sitting in a circle and having everyone go round the circle repeatedly telling whatever fun stories of their lives that they have to tell and forget about the cards that define you to a category that you often don't have a story for....

Recall, Recount, and Relate!
Break the ice and get talking with this outrageous collection of conversation starters. Or find out how well you really know your family and friends. Share your story, slip in a few fibs, and see how many people you can bamboozle!

This handy deck is perfect for parties, road trips, school, camp, or just hanging out with your friends. There are 4 different ways to play: The Chronicler, Kit & Caboodle, the Gamble, or Bamboozle! It's never the same game twice!

My Thoughts

Are you looking for some ways to break the ice in your Bible study or party? Well look no more because Chronicles of the Mind will come to your rescue!

In this game, you will find over 119 topics you can definitively find some great ice breakers or conversation starters. Anyone can play from young ones to the older generation. It is definitively a game for a family reunion - Mmmmm! there is one coming up in 2013 on my mother-in-law side. Something to pack in our RV when we go!

There are four ways to play with this interesting game.

In the Chronicler version you pick a card and you share a story based on the category.

For the Kit n' Caboodle one person picks a card and the rest of the people have to share a story.

In the Gambler version of the game, each player received five cards. Players can "exchange" some cards if they desire. Then everyone have to share the stories in the categories they have in hand.

The Bamboozle game, you will pick a game and without telling anyone else you can decide to share a true or false story. Then the other players have to guess if your story really happened or not with their voting cards.

We love playing games and this one is definitely a lot of fun. This is a card game where you take turns telling stories based on the topic on the card drawn. Each card has the topic in 4 different languages English, French, Spanish, and German which I thought was very cool since it opens the game to a lot more people in the world. This can not only be played as a fun and funny game but it can also really just help to get everyone talking and learning more about one another. This game is even small and compact making it very easy to travel with so you can take it anywhere you go and always have a great party starter to get people taking.

This game has 4 different kinds of gameplay which are all explained in the directions. There is The Chronicler where you take turns picking a card and then telling a story based on the topic on your card. The Kit n' Caboodle where one person picks a card and everyone takes turns telling a story based on the topic of that card. The Gambler where each person gets 5 cards and can switch the cards that they don't like and then everyone tells stories based on the topics on all 5 cards. The Bamboozle where everyone gets a voting card and then they take turns picking a card and deciding if they want to tell a true or fake story based on the topic of their card and then everyone votes on if the story is true or fake. If they are right they get a point and if they are wrong you get their point and the first person to 20 points wins.
