Outstanding I--Pad 2 Protection In An Equally Outstanding Armored Case.

I purchased this NEW Griffin I--Pad 2 case to replace my older, worn out Griffin I--Pad 2 case I originally purchased from Amazon several years ago. I stayed with Griffin because I am very comfortable with their armored I--device cases. However; all buyers please still be aware that the RUBBER TABS on the outer portion of the case, that cover all of the ports of the I--Pad, MUST be handled with care; because over time, and with constant, repeated use/wear, they WILL eventually wear out & break off. The rubber "hinges," on the TABS are very thin & flexible, so they cannot take much (if any) abuse. Overall though, it's still an excellent, protective case. Would still highly recommend it for anyone looking to buy one for their I--Pad.

Very Durable - Dare I Say, Kidproof?

I'd give it about 4.5 stars. It's a great case for the iPad, especially for anyone with kids. I used to use Apple's Smart Cover and thought that would be enough. Wrong. Kid dropped it. Small, negligible crack in the corner. Months later, kid leaves iPad on the couch. Shih Tzu steps on it and the screen shatters. I ordered this case that night, and I've been worry-free ever since. Very durable. Screen protector is non-intrusive and quickly forgotten. The stand is useful, but can be a bit prone to unintentional folding. The case makes the volume up button a bit more of a challenge to use, but it's not a big deal. The cover for the camera lens is gone probably due to kid that likes to pick at everything, but the iPad is still well protected. The outer shell serves as a hand-hold strap on the back, which is handy. Sorry. Installation and removal is fairly easy, taking only enough effort to reassure that it's not going anywhere unless you want it to. Beach-worthy. Highly recommended for iPad owners with kids and shih tzus.

Great, except for the screen protector

Bought these for employees who work outside and in manholes. Very good protection. The little rubber covers for the ports keep moisture and dirt out pretty well. The cases are heavy, relatively speaking. They will about double the weight and thickness of an iPad, but you can drop your iPad onto the street and it will be fine. The only thing I don't like is the screen protector. It's glued in, so you can't replace it, and it's not very good quality. It scratches very easily and it has some opacity, so in sunlight, it makes it a bit harder to see the screen if you have auto brightness turned on. I contacted the manufacturer to see if I could buy just the screen protector or even the top half of the inner plastic clamshell the screen protector is glued into. Unfortunately, they don't sell just that part, so when your screen protector gets scratched up, you'll either just have to deal with it, or buy another case. The price has come down, so it's not too bad to just buy a new one, but it would be best if they just improved the screen protector and/or allowed you to buy just that part as a replacement. Otherwise, an outstanding product.

Very disappointed (green and black griffin survivor)

I ordered a survivor case many years ago and loved it. So I expected the same quality with this case. After a few days of owning this product the flap covering the headphone jack fell off (I had barely used it so it definitely wasn't from abuse). Then the flap covering the camera kept falling out and, after putting it back in so many times, it ripped. Also, the flap over the speaker fell out so many times it just got lost. Now I'm sure these are common and, even though they annoy me, I have lived with them. However the screen cover's adhesive has lost it's stick and, slowly, the built in screen cover has started coming off the case. It is to the point that this case is unusable. The loss of stick has warped the screen protector which makes it impossible to use the screen and it allows all sorts of junk under the screen. Now I don't abuse this case and I rarely ever take my iPad outside. I've only had it since the summer of 2013 so I think it should be covered by a warranty. I have contacted Griffin and will update this if they make it right. I am very disappointed because I ordered a survivor case years ago and it was the best iPad case I have ever used. So I expected the same when I ordered this case. But this case is not even close to the same, both in design and in quality. I'm very disappointed and I hope you are able to avoid the same mistake I made. I saw some suggest that this is not a real griffin case. I don't know if that is true but this is cheaper then the last one I ordered years ago. That makes me think there may be some truth to this. But my case is exactly like ones I have seen in person and pictures that I KNOW are real griffin cases. That makes me think this is probably a legitimate case. I highly recommend the otterbox defender case for this iPad. It is the same concept but it is much higher quality and, in my opinion, much better looking. Hope this helps and good luck! :)

Griffin replied quickly and the refund process was painless. I sent in a few pics and they sent me my new case. I gotta say I'm blown away at the difference between my old case and the replacement. This new case is MUCH more sturdy. Much higher quality. The screen cover is so clear you cant even tell it's on there. It is a much better fit for my iPad. Either the first case I ordered wasn't a Griffin case or they majorly stepped up their game. Either way I am thrilled. My only concern is whether or not this case can stand up to the test of time. If, in other words, it will always be this good or if it just seems good because it isn't brand new.

Only case worth buying

Ive had two iPad cases in one year that have broken very easily so I decided to spend a bit more and get the Griffin. I had a Griffin for an iPhone previously that lasted two years and protected the iPhone through all sorts of drops and spill ages and still looked brand new at the end of it.
For the iPad I've had an Orla Kiely case and the JTech. Surprisingly the Kiely was more robust but the cover material itself was peeling after just a month or so and the case corners broke after a small drop. The case was also nearly impossible to use for having the iPad stood upright eg when watching something or writing.

The JTech was a joke and I can't fathom it's good reviews; the case uses these stick on pads so that you can adjust the angle of the iPad. But of course these peeled off after just a day so it was then no longer possible to keep the iPad upright without just leaning it against something. To top of off, after a few weeks the iPad was dropped by my child from a height of 15-20cm onto a soft rug and the case corner broke off completely rendering the case useless! At least on the Kiely when the corners broke off the case still held the iPad in and could be used. On the JTech, once the corner was on the case didn't hold the iPad at all.

So I turned to the Griffin based on my positive experience with the iPhone case. I needed something that would fulfil just two functions;

-protect the iPad absolutely in case of being dropped
-allow us to have the iPad at a useful angle for watching/Skype without having to lean it against other objects

The Griffin is perfect for both these things. The iPad has even been thrown and hasn't the case is unscathed and off course it's been fine. It's even been accidentally stood on by an adult and nothing's happened. It's been dropped, had sand and water spilt on it and nothing. It also makes the iPad lovely and easy to hold; it's a non slip rubbery case. It feels robust and the little stand to keep the iPad at an angle is perfect.

Can't recommend this highly enough especially for anyone with young children!

Great protection

The really good thing about this case is that it offers excellent protection. Although I've obviously not tried it, I have no fears about dropping it as the combination of a plastic case, screen protection and heavy duty rubberised buffers on the corners and edges mean that the iPad is superbly protected. As a rugby coach, I bought it to use during training sessions, without fear of the iPad being damaged from drops, mud and rain. To this end, the product is excellent.

However, my reason for not awarding 5 stars is that it has several design issues that would ideally be resolved in a future version. Firstly, the camera and speaker are protected by moveable 'plugs' that can be pulled out and hinged out of the way. However, the 'hinge' is simply part of the plug pushed through a hole in the plastic case. The first time I used the camera, this hinge came out and I had to disassemble the whole case to plug it back in, which is not a quick job. Once you know this, however, it all works fairly well. Also, the small rubber feet on the ends of the 2 legs of the stand are not firmly attached and can come off. A little glue has solved this. The only other niggle is that you have to have the iPad's screen and the screen protector scrupulously clean before assembly. Otherwise, you get bits trapped between the 2 and you can get a rainbow bloom over the whole screen.

These issues aside, this is a very high quality protective case with which I am perfectly happy. It is certainly highly protective and I can easily live with the other problems. I would certainly recommend the case if you are looking to use your iPad outside in conditions similar to a wet rugby pitch in winter!

Fab sturdy feeling case

Really pleased with this case. The case is for my daughters' ipad 3. One of them is 2 and the other is 7 with special needs. So far no dropping has occurred but it really feels protective and the rubber makes it easy to hold or place on a table and not worry about it easily being swiped off.

The case fits perfectly and the screen protector is great too. It has not affected the responsiveness of the touch screen at all which I had read in reviews that this was what people were not happy with. I guess Griffin have updated it in this version of the case.

The little flaps for the charging port and the speakers at the back are fine and the volume controls work perfectly through the case. I have also used the fold out stand on the back for watching videos and films and it does the job nicely.

Received the Griffin iPad 2 Military case I via Prime delivery so it arrived the next day. I had ordered a cheap version of an iPad 2 tough case earlier in the week and was extremely disappointed with it . Lesson was learned because you get what you pay for.
This Griffin case is absolutely brilliant ! Fits well and has a nice solid feel to it. It can be dropped from a height of 6 feet so I should imagine it would be great for those with kids. My husband is a bushcraft, survival skills, instructor so needs a water tight cover for his iPad and this cover fits the bill . The camera lens is covered so won't get scratched and all the ports are covered too so he won't be worried about the wet and damp doing any damage. It's an extremely sturdy case.

An excellent armor case for the ipad, mainly to protect against my children man handling the ipad.

POSITIVES - They've thrown the ipad across the room many times and its been subjected to multiple spills too. The Griffin GB35108 Survivor case has ensured longevity of life for our ipad, cushioning it against so.e devastatingly serious knocks (once down the stairs too).

NEGATIVES - The plastic like film on the screen is a fingerprint magnet and stains appear to leave a permanant type of residue behind after wiping them away (only noticeable upon close scrutiny). Also the port covers for the headphone jack, camera and switch covers are flexible but flimsy. My children have managed to rip them off and lose them (the camera cover and the head phone cover).

OVERALL - Tough and sturdy - does the job - 4.5/5
