I've tried multiple of these type of products. This has been my favorite so far, though I do have to admit only time will tell as durability seems to be a comon issue.

First I'll Say I think the sound quality is actually quite good. I have no idea where people that complain about the sound quality on this one are comming from. Granted, I'm not a nit picker and I'm not trying to connect to BOSE headphones, but for what I need and the type of music I listen to it's great. It's also certainly good enough for hearing on the run.

The buttons are easy enough to touch and feel out. Especially if you're out running and trying to do it by feel to keep eyes ahead. It's just the right length of chord to let me use my short chord headphones on my Shuffle without an additional extender.

Again, only time will tell, but I actually think this products manufacturing quality and design seems more solid and likely to last than the previous two I purchased. (The previous two showed questionable quality after a couple months and died after 6 months or less.) It has a single chord connection (not two bonded) that seem slightly protected on each end.

Thus far, I am at bare minimum as pleased as I was with the previous two cheap similar products, and I am optimistic from what I've seen (not a common state of mind for me.) that it will out last them both making it worth the extra.

Update: after a year or so of use, the clip suddenly loosened for no apparent reason, which means that it does not so much "clip" as "loosely hang on to." My original review was 4 stars and is below.
==
Functionality-wise, this product works as expected. Nothing surprising.

The length of the cord is just right for having my iPod in my pocket, while being able to control it from the outside. However, this does create an annoying loop as the way the clip is mounted, the iPod-to-controller segment of wire needs to attach to the controller outside of the pocket. (In order to access the buttons, the clip must be inside, which means the cord is now outside the pocket.) However in spite of this, it's just long enough that it reaches even with this loop.

My other main disappointment is that it's often hard to tell the difference between the center button and either of the other two. It may seem like it'd be obvious, but when you're fumbling around to pause it without looking, it's quite difficult.

Still, it's a good product, and definitely worth checking out if you need something like this.

This is by far the best product of its kind. I went thru 3 others before finding this one. The competitive products either fell apart or simply stopped working. I have been extremely pleased with the product quality. It takes a bit of time to get used to using the controls if you're used to the Apple controller.

I agree with a couple of the reviews. The buttons are a little bit squishy and hard to feel exactly without looking, but it is by far the best product of its kind that I have tried. I have used 3 brands of similar adapters over the last few years and I have used several headphones with built in controls and this one is the best with the one exception of one $150 headphone set that had a far superior controller. Also, I didn't like the pocket clip built into the top of the plug, so I carefully cut it off with a Dremel tool. Now that I have gotten used to the squishy buttons it seems to work great.

For better ease of use the buttons should be a different color from the rest of the unit. I have to fumble around too much to feel where they are. The buttons should not be squishy rubber, but stiff, so you can actually perform some of the phone's functions like quick double-clicks. The pocket hook on the back makes it even trickier to squeeze the buttons as it adds even more give against the rubber buttons. Other than that, the box it came in was neat.

I read the other reviews and I don't have a problem with pulling the wires roughly, so this headphone controller works great for me. I have my iPod clipped into my belt and it is not always easy to get to it to adjust the volume and/or on and off switch. With this adapter it hangs low enough to control the sound quickly. I find this very continent.

I like it so far but all of these adaptors - unless they're high end $75.00 adaptors - tend to wear out - or the wires work away from the microphone, etc. - quite fast upon purchase: Within a few months or even weeks, sometimes. Even the Apple earbuds with a built in microphone control are of a very poor quality; they are usually shot within 6 months or less. I've had these two weeks now, and so far no problems - but, like with belkin, Apple, et al. manufacturers, I won't hold my breath.

Works well and good quality. I had another brand that I used for this which was a bit cheaper but I had to replace every 1-2 years. These buttons are 3 separate ones versus 1 that is pressure sensitive and not as accurate. Hopefully this one lasts longer!
