Ridiculously over-engineered? Or the perfect case for your iPad mini no matter where you're headed?
We think it's a little bit of both.
Simply put, the Griffin Survivor All-Terrain Case is the most protective case we've ever built.
Tested and certified to meet or exceed US Department of Defense Standard 810F, Griffin's Survivor All-Terrain Military-Duty Case is designed from the inside out to protect your iPad mini from extreme conditions ... dirt, sand, rain, shock, vibration and a host of other environmental factors.
Survivor All-Terrain is built on a shatter-resistant polycarbonate frame clad in rugged, shock absorbing silicone. A built-in screen protector seals your Multi-Touch display from the outside environment, while hinged plugs seal the dock connector, camera lens, headphone port, hold switch and volume controls. The included stand clips on, then folds open for landscape viewing and typing.
Survivor All-Terrain is independently tested and verified to meet or exceed environmental testing standards for blown rain, blown dust and grit, vibration, shock, temperature and humidity.

No really, this one time, one of my sons ran through the house, tripped and hit his head on the wall. Me and my wife, being the concerned parents we are, rushed over to help him. He pushed us away and said he needed to catch the bad guy. Ran away fully unfazed by the incident. We laughed, then we looked to the wall. Yeah, he put a HOLE in the WALL! I mean I know I can be “hard-headed” but I never thought that I would pass that trait on to my children in the physical sense…
Anyway, you can imagine how hard they are on everything else.
These iPad covers are worth every single penny! They have protected the devices from drops, spills, scratches, punches, being stepped on by an oblivious teenager or toddler, and probably the very fires of Hell for all I know. One of them does finally show a bit of wear and tear where the top plate clicks onto the base, but otherwise they have survived years of abuse.
Absolutely marvelous. I’m currently trying to figure out how to make one of these things into a suit of armor for me… you know, so I can wrestle with my hard-headed kids and live through it. ;)

Snug fit. Feels very durable. Film covers the screen. Removable rubber stops (over the camera, charger, etc) are hearty, they dont feel like they'll break off ever.
The stand is a little bit cheesy, it's not connected permanently to the cover, it just slips on and off and I know it's only a matter of time until we lose it. But, fortunately we didn't buy it for the stand.
I would say this is very comparable to a LifeProof case.
I got the IPad mini 2 and wanted a durable case for it, but hardly any for the mini 2
This case said for the first iPad mini. So I took a risk and ordered this one
Shipping was fast
I got it and it said "For the first iPad mini and iPad mini 2"
I was happy
When I first put it on and threw it at my sister and she did not catch it
Hit the floor and was still good
There is only 2 drawbacks to these, not deal killers for me, but I thought I would share them anyways. There does seem to be a bit of a "rainbow" effect with the screen cover. Not really a super big deal when its on, but if you are picky about it, it will drive you nuts. The camera lens flap is very hard for kids to get open. Its even a little hard for an adult to open. I just took both of them off.
