1) These tablets leave behind a chalky dust that is a CHORE to flush out. Even after wasting nearly two cups worth of flush beans there was a "chalky" residue in my grinder, forcing me to take it apart and clean it with brush and a lot of canned air. I thought at first maybe it was because I had so much bean oil for the tablets to clean? But each use was the same result.
2) Price. The tablets are way too expensive for only 3 uses.
(updated edit: after a few comments pointing out some good tips to pass on, I did some digging to refine my suggestion below).
I use precooked rice (i.e. Minute Rice), it's cheap, just as good, and convenient. For the same amount of money you can buy a 28 oz box of Minute Rice giving you about 20-25 uses with a lot less residue. As one comment pointed out, precooked rice has very little starch and is much lower density than uncooked rice, making it a fairly safe and effective tool.
Note that I don't suggest using rice INSTEAD of regular maintenance. For top flavor and performance, you still got to take it apart get busy with a brush and some canned air. I grind 16-24 cups daily, and use rice once every 4-6 months depending on performance. The brush/canned air routine takes me about 8 minutes and is part of my Sunday morning routine.
While I don't think it did a bad job, it definitely does not work as well as the rice I've been using for years. The Grindz "beans" leave behind a noticeable residue that ends up being something else that needs to be cleaned off, and it's not particularly easy to get off. In the end I had to clean the Grindz residue off with rice, which pretty much makes no sense whatsoever.
I tossed out the other two single-use packs that came in the sample box, and I won't be buying any.
It actually makes a difference...just run it through your grinder like regular beans (that's how they're shaped). You do have to sacrifice some beans when you're done as you need to run beans through to get out the residual amount of Grindz.
Beans are off-white, but powder in the ground coffee bin was light brown, so I knew it was working.
There must have been a rock or something in my grinder b/c half way through it locked up and I had to disassemble and reassemble several times during the cleaning process.
oh well. All is good now.
Last week I had cleaned out the coffee pot with vinegar solution. Also oxy-cleaned the Stainless Steel Carafe and my thermos.
Coffee tasted better but not 100%
This weekend I cleaned the grinder and gold-tone filter.
Coffee is fantastic this morning.
Grinder being dirty was my weak point and I fixed it thanks to this easy to use product. Can't ask for more.
I would buy the Urnex Grindz Coffee Grinder Cleaner, 15.2 oz (430 grams) and measure out the correct amount to clean your grinder.

Was labeled as gluten-free, but once I received it, it is clearly not gluten-free. I returned it and now just use minute rice to clean my grinder. Works great! :-)Published 9 days ago by Jacob Graf
I generally don't like writing negative reviews, but I didn't really appreciate the product.

Just used this for the first time and it seems to have worked well. If it helps me not to take my grinder apart so often I call this a great product.Published 5 months ago by Sue Steinhart
