Quincy was introduced in his brother Truman’s story, Tru Blue. He’s had a rough childhood but things are finally on an upswing when he meets Roni. As he begins to understand her demons, & share his, their relationship grows. When his past comes to call, will she believe in him & stand with him or will she walk away?
Veronica was an up & coming dancer until the accident that took away her dreams. She never had time for boys or relationships as she focused on dance. Now she teaches dance to children. Until she met Quincy, she was surviving. One look at him & she was hooked. Their friendship developed into something stronger & deeper.
I really loved the relationships in this story. Quincy & Roni had an instant connection that grew slowly until they were both able to acknowledge it. Quincy’s relationships with Truman, Kennedy & Lincoln went beyond what I expected. It adds another facet to Quincy’s personality. His protectiveness encompasses all of his friends & family. I loved the way they all enveloped Veronica into their folds because she was with Quincy. She learned that family isn’t just blood related & how they all have each other’s back. This story was one of the most emotionally charged I’ve read in quite a while & really enjoyed it.
Quincy has had a hard life, has made some really bad choices, and makes no excuses for them. He knows he hit rock bottom, and is doing everything he can to become the man he wants to be, the man he can be proud of. It's not easy, but it's what he has to do, for himself.
Roni's life has been one hard knock after another. Just when she thought all of dreams were coming true, she was knocked back down to the bottom. But hard work and perseverance pay off, and she has her life back on the right path. Dreams change, but she is happy.
Quincy and Roni are amazing! These two, hit me right in the feels! No matter what is thrown at them, they still make it work! My heart hurts for them, but at the same time, I know that the hard paths they've led, have brought them together, made them who they are. Their story is one about love, family, support, and overcoming life's adversities. It's a story that is real. An absolutely perfect! There just isn't another way to say it!

Determined to be a better person, Quincy now hosts narcotics anonymous meetings, mentors a fellow addict who is in recovery, and holds down a regular job. He also has a family support system to give him lots of reasons to stay clean.
Roni Westcott is a dance teacher who recently lost her Grandmother, her last living relative. It took time to grieve but she had the support of her best friend Angela and the regular texts from a sexy admirer.
Roni and Quincy have been text friends for a while but Quincy is determined to take it further. However, he knows that he will have to be honest about his past if he wants to keep his girl, and he fears that the honesty will be the reason that she walks away.
This was a sweet romance which also dealt with the darker side of drug abuse. I thought that the serious sub-theme was written well while the main focus is on the romance between Roni and Quincy. I do enjoy reading all the about the Whiskeys and their extended family, and the work that the Dark Knights do for their community is always commendable. I shall look forward to the next book in the series.
Loved this story couldn’t put it down loved Roni and her bestie Angela couldn’t pick anyone better for Quincy.
6 degrees of separation comes into play definitely in this book also the ripple effect too
Can’t wait to read more from this series
I loved this story so much, once minute I am laughing and then the next I was crying my eyes out. The history for both Quincy and Ronnie is so real life, Melissa has out done herself with this story!
