I hope that helps with the camo/no camo confusion.
That all being said, this is a great emergency tent. It is lightweight so it is adds nothing to the weight of your pack (or bugout bag.) It is reflective (mylar) so it not only will reflect your own heat back to you but should be easy to find if rescuers are looking for you.
But, it is not really a "tent" in the modern sense. This is just a tube of mylar. Sleep on it to stay off the wet ground or sleep in to get out of the rain but be warned that there won't be a lot of room to move around and unless you run the line through it and tie it to a tree you may end up with a condensation problem. What I do is point the foot end towards the wind/weather, then pile up some rocks on it so it is closed off. Then I put my pack in the opening of the downwind side so it is open a little bit and sleep with my head at that end. Yes, there will be condensation at the foot of it by morning but if you set it up right it won't get you or your bag wet. Personally, I'd suggest trying it out during nice weather so you can see how to make it work best for if you are ever caught in bad weather.
i was a little surprised at how small the whole thing was when 'wrapped up' but that's a good thing. the material used is just the same as any other emergency type blanket etc. i used over the past two decades so i pretty much know what to expect. i am not going to open it in advance as it would defeat the purpose but based on what i have in hand, reviews from others and my past experience with these type items? i am happy with it and would recommend it to anyone heading out on a long hike in the mountains.
fyi these are pretty much a use once and done for those unfamiliar with.
Second, it is light and compact for easy storage and transport. I keep it in my bug out bag and it is perfect for it. The anchor cord is included so I do not have to waste my packaged cordage.
So why 4/5 stars? I would have preferred a little thicker mylar for the base of the tent for better ground protection against poke through by sticks etc. Having said that I intend to use it, in cold weather, in conjunction with the Grizzly Gear 2 person mylar emergency blanket so that should afford the protection I want.
I received this at a discounted price for an honest and unbiased review, this is a perfect addition to my ditch bag emergency supply, so I am quite satisfied with the product.
I sure hope they never need this but...
I bought a bunch of items to put together earthquake kits for my adult kids. These got pretty great reviews and were a great price and take up hardly any room in the EQ kit.
I read lots of reviews from people who have actually used these for camping and they say they're great for trapping the warmth especially since they are made to accommodate two humans. And they seem to be reflective so they could be easily spotted from afar including from above.
Anyhow, this tent is perfect for the earthquake kits and I pray they never even have to set it up.
Among other things, I also bought Emergency Mylar Thermal Blankets (Pack of 10) so should my kids ever need these two items together for even a zombie apocalypse, they'll be ready and warm and be able to get enough sleep to fend off the marauding masses.
This is an emergency thermal reflective tent that is meant to provide a reflective surface so those searching for you will be able to see your location. The other function is to contain your body heat so you will survive the night temperatures.
It isn't super thick, but it doesn't need to be. It would be nice to have the bottom layer thicker to protect from tears or rips.
The benefit is that it is super lightweight and folds up small enough to slip into a bag or pocket. It would be a nice addition to your emergency bag or camping gear.
