The vise came within a week and it was packaged well. The fit and finish are probably a 4 out of 5...some of the machined threads are a little rough at the very end of the unit, but not a big deal. There are NO instructions included, but if you're adding a front vise you are probably already very handy and you wouldn't use instructions anyway. However, a template for drilling holes would have been a nice addition. Note too that there is no handle nor wood faces included; you will have to make these yourself.
Bottom line: it's a good value, the fit and finish are acceptable, and the vise provides tremendous torque due to the large size.
Update: Boy oh boy are first impressions wrong!!!
I finished my shop building and my new work table and went to install this vise today.... it couldn't be done. The jack screw assembly is quite well done, but they drlled the holes in the mounting base so crooked and off center that it is completely unusable. Looked so good too; how disappointing to be sure.
I called Grizzley customer service, explained the problem asked them to provide a replacement base..... they don't have any parts for it at all: replace entire unit only if anything is wrong. They said since I bought it a while back, tough luck. How is that for customer service on a new, in the box, factory screwed up part? No effort of any kind to compromise, reduced price for a new one, nothing.... screw you sucker. I will never again buy any more (Communist)Chinese junk from Grizzley.... no matter how inexpensive and nicely painted it may be. They have no real customer loyalty, so why should I show any use for them either?? Once bitten, that''s their fault.... twice bitten, that's my fault.
