I really enjoyed this book. Would have given it 4,5* if possible but it's closer to 5 than 4.
I knew the background of this book. I read about it in a forum or I would have missed it.
The original story this book is based on was full of twists and great characters and I was worried that they wouldn't translate well into a book. I was wrong. Mr Salminen has taken all the good parts and woven them together into a great book. I see that both description and other reviews comment on the story's background. I think this is a bad thing as it might deter new readers from picking it up.
If you like a good story, fast and unpredictable action and science fiction this book is definitely for you. The kindle version is comparatively cheap and compared to the hours of fun this book gives you owe it to yourself to read it.
The sequel isn't released yet so I wonder if the author will be able to keep the storytelling at this high level. Especially since parts of the action risks getting repetitive and the main characters need to become more complex over time to keep the reader glued. This is NOT critisisim of this book however, just a fear since I know of the main story line beforehand and a small hope that the author will read this comment and think about it.
In summary: I enjoyed this book way more than I thought I would. I think everyone who is into sci fi with alien life forms will enjoy this book. It has a great story, good pacing and it is obviously written as a labor of love and it actually shows. Even/especially if you've never heard of this book, read it!
... and disregard the title and the book description about a computer game. Don't know why the author chose the name or the description since it almost made me not want to read this book and that would have robbed me of the best part of this holiday season. :)
