Taking place not long after the ending of First Flight, Grounded explores the reaction of Earth to the startling news that we are not alone in the universe any more. With more factions than you can shake a stick at and betrayal commonplace, you have a thought-provoking and enjoyable continuination to what is a great series.

_____Nope, sorry, this book is just about plotless. It starts with the main character being all action-packed, surviving a near-collision with a robotic drone and what-not. An attempt on her life? Hmm, it just might be a conspiracy! After her career gets temporarily trashed, the protagonist spends most all of her time attending random virtual-reality training sessions, getting chosen to be some kind of space-ace secret agent, suddenly ends back to earth, starts chatting it up with random sub-characters, dealing with the cat-like aliens, and not doing much in the way of dealing with the main antagonist.... Wait, WHAT antagonist? Over two hundred pages into the thing, and there is still NO MAIN PLOT.
_____The other reviewers online who gave this book negative reviews did so with good reasons, the main one being that this book was plotless. Without a primary plot-focus, a so-called novel may as well be just a disconnected series of events, and that's exactly what this book reads like. Hell, it might as well be a phone book. (Funny how the people who gave this book a positive rating haven't given ANY books negative ratings--as if they're the sort of people paid to chat up bad books.) Claremont should either do what he does best--stick to comics--or take some basic creative writing courses.

The first book of this series (First Flight) was pretty good. This one started out okay, though a bit dry. However, 200 pages in, it fell apart and I couldn't figure out what was going on. I couldn't finish it.
