The introduction of the Grover Locking Rotomatics gives you the ease of use provided by a standard tuner and the positive locking of the internal cam post. Simply insert the string through the string hole, pull to tension by hand and begin tuning. As you start to tune, only the locking cam in the string post turns. Once the string is locked, the string post begins to turn allowing you to bring the string to pitch. In less than one revolution of the string post, you will be in tune, to stay in tune.Gear ratio is 18 to 1.

Somehow Grover can't make a locking tuner with the same stem length as the standard rotomatics people buy these to replace. The 106G's have these very long stems and the other variant of grover locking tuners with the thumbwheel 502's have shorter stems (too short to work on my gibson ES -335 when I tried those.)
Overall nice tuners, just look a little weird once installed. See attached photos for comparison to standard rotomatics, and to see finished install of 6.
I have only had these installed for about a week, so I will further update this review after I've had more experience with these tuners "in the heat of battle".
UPDATE: I have these installed on a couple of guitars now. The tuning stability is very good. You kind of get used to the long stems after a while, but they do still look a little bit odd. I do really wish Grover would offer these in Nickel, so I could match the hardware on 3 of my Gibsons. those are staying with the old grovers because the lockers don't come in Nickel.
