About the Author
Philip and Erin Ulrich live in South Carolina with their two daughters. They enjoy adventures in the wild, as long as they can be home in time for dinner. Being Australian, Phil probably has natural-born abilities to hunt and wrestle dangerous creatures. He has used these natural abilities to finish in the top four in family balloon volleyball. An avid reader at heart, Erin loves to sit with a warm cup of coffee on a comfy chair and wishes these amenities were easier to find in the wild.
When they aren't writing stories, Phil & Erin run their own business, Design by Insight (designbyinsight.net), a website and book design company. Erin is also the author of Self-Publish: Moving from Idea to Product. Phil and Erin are currently at work on the continuing adventures of Growly.

Who is "they"? Well first, there is Growly, the young bear, who we met in the first book and is carrying Aventhistle, an emergency medicine, in his backpack. Once Growly realizes that this is the reason Tullly flew so far to find him, he realizes the graveness of C.J.'s situation. How far did Tully come? Four days of flying! Chippy, the monkey, is also with Growly as they embark on this next hair raising part of their adventure across the ocean. Who will they meet along the way? I'll give you a clue! They are lovable creatures of the sea :) These creatures are truly endearing and give the story a great appeal as they interact with Growly, Tully and Chippy.
You will also find the characters fighting a huge storm and landing on an island. Who do they meet and will they find the help they need to mend their boat? Once again, as in the first book, relationships and friendships are truly special. Marriage is portrayed as special and worthwhile. There is never any bad language or harshness spoken in this book. Everyone has great respect for each other. Yes, at times the characters are well and truly petrified which shows the true nature and reaction of the situations they find themselves in. Children (and adults) can really identify with their feelings and in fact one of our children was gripping his seat at times as I was reading the story!
I am not going to spoil the ending of this book but let me tell that the adventure does not end here. Yes there is some closure but you will need to read the next book, Morning, in order to find out how it all ends. I also HIGHLY recommend you reading Begin, the first book in the series first. If not, you will really miss out on some of the story.
Although a long book the chapters are a good length for reading aloud and are all titled and indexed for easy reference. The book, for the most part is very well-written although there were a few missed words and spelling errors but not enough to distract from the great story. The authors have an amazing way of describing things in great detail without putting you to sleep. Rather, they bring the scenes to life before your very eyes! This set of books should grace all family libraries. It is rare to find quality like this, these days. 4.5 stars
