Mr. Grumpy Lizard requests help from four giggling girls because "the citizens of Reptile Land are entirely too unhappy." The story itself has a wonderful simplicity and straightforwardness telling how important it is to extend happiness and to know that when we show our happiness, it can make other people around us feel happy too.
I took this book and read it to my son and his friend this afternoon and they thoroughly enjoyed it. This book is good for boys and girls because - who doesn't like to take an adventure to a castle and even hear a tale about a jolly little monkey? Even though boys are made of frogs and snails and puppy dog tails, little girls should always be known to all people for their sweet giggles. And no one should ever take away the happiness and laughter and joy that comes so naturally for children.
This is a classic animal fantasy tale about having steadfast joy even in the land of unhappy reptiles. I give this story 5-stars for being rich in content. It has wonderful characters, delightful illustrations, and an excellent reminder about joy for everyone.
I loved this story and look forward to sharing it with my grandchildren. The words flow easily and the illustrations are beautifully done. Each personality is portrayed perfectly through the illustrations. It is the perfect story for children ages 3 and up.
Great work, Joyce and Dennis Shaughnessy.
