Top Customer Reviews
This muzzle worked well enough to keep the louder barking at bay although she was still able to get *some* noises out, it was nowhere near what it was before we got this. Another good aspect of this one is that as tight as the fit is, she was still able to drink from her water bowl.
The con side of this one is that we think it may not be suitable for dogs with biting problems as the clasp in the back is somewhat fragile, and if used on an overly aggressive dog it appears that it would be quite easy for doggie to break that thing open.
Five stars for our experience.
While at the vet during that particularly nerve-wracking visit, the vet lent a muzzle that was very similar to this one. It was effective in keeping her from biting at him, the vet techs, and myself.
So, I ordered this muzzle as it was so similar to that one. It's a great muzzle to use for fear-aggressive dogs and for training.
However, I will say that, unless the visit only last 5-10 minutes or you can manage to keep your dog calm, for the most part, during a longer appointment, I would be remiss if I didn't mention that it would be very easy for a dog to overheat wearing this muzzle.
While there is an opening for them to breathe and drink through at the end of the snout, it's very, very snug around the mouth. If your dog gets highly worked up, they will be breathing heavily within a matter of moments. In that case, I'd recommend the Baskerville cage muzzle.
For quick visits and training your dog to get used to a muzzle, though, this one works perfectly. Easy to snap on once you've adjusted the strap to the right tightness. But, again, remember, this product is NOT meant to be worn for long periods of times, especially if it's hot.
This is reasonably soft, so it doesn't cause discomfort. I had to muzzle my dog who has never bitten any person nor animal, because I'm in a condo which only allows dogs under 20 pounds or larger dogs with permission. I didn't want something that would be uncomfortable, becaaue she never did anything to deserve being muzzled. She can pant, but not as heavily as she normally does.
