***UPDATE 1/12/2012**** I finally found the solution to my dog pool needs. I bought my dog one of those circular 6'x2' cattle troughs (keyword search "galvanized round stock tank"). I bought mine at Tracter Supply Co. and hauled it on my friend's truck. It was no easy feat, let me tell you, but we got it done and now my dog has an indestructable dog pool to splash around in, which HE LOVES. It was also expensive, mine cost about $300. There are smaller/cheaper ones that would be suitable for smaller dogs. My dog is a 75lb, tall and lean Great Dane Mix. So the tank has a drain hole at the bottom where I screwed in a hose for easy draining.Read more ›
After setting up and filling the pool, I delighted in watching my dog romp and splash, jump in and out of the pool and have a great time for over an hour. Then I went inside for a little while. When I returned about twenty minutes later, I beheld lots of card-board pieces and bits of red and blue plastic littering the yard. The sides of this pool are made of a cardboard type material, so if there is a puncture even, the cardboard could get wet and mold. My dog enjoyed tearing this new 'toy' to shreds (probably as much as he enjoyed splashing in it) which was exceedingly easy for him. So, unless your dog is completely uninterested in chewing or even biting down on the side (or you can supervise and not leave your dog unattended even briefly, if he does like to chew) I do not recommend this pool.
My dog weighs around 75 pounds, and can easily lie down in this pool without his body being covered in water (maybe half covered) and his body took up most of the pool when he laid down (I think the lab in the photo is maybe half grown). It's not a very big pool, but it seemed great at first. In the end, this was the most expensive chew toy ever.
The Bad: If you have a dog who likes to tear up things it is not a great pool, ours lasted less than a month. The demon child pulled off the top binding. The pool is make of a waterproof cloth and cardboard. All he did was bite and pull and it was killed, can not fix.
The walls are too high for the dogs to get in and out comfortably. The Shepherd can't lift her rear legs that high any more, and the Cavachon has to jump over the side to get in. Also, the water heats up VERY fast. So you have to empty and refill it almost everyday, or it becomes a warm water tub. Barely big enough for the big dog to stand in. She has always loved to turn and splash in her old pools, but there isn't enough room in this pool for that.
It is very easy to "assemble." Just spread out and fill. Very easy to empty, just unscrew the plug. Great, if you're a camper, like me, and want your dags to have a pool at your camp site.
All in all, I'm disappointed because my "kids" aren't excited by their new pool. I have used larger kiddie pools, which I reinforced, in the past, and they LOVED them. Not so with this one. My Shepherd goes in, stands there for a few seconds and comes out. My Cavachon just looks over the side. Back to the kiddie pools for us.

I bought this for my bulldogs who love swimming but obviously aren't built for it. They are very heat sensitive so the cool water in the summer time is a great idea for them. Read morePublished on January 22, 2014 by Amazon Customer
Great concept. Very poor quality. Not the pool for a black lab. The support panels are cardboard not PVC. Read morePublished on July 27, 2013 by Thomas J. Rymarz
..but sprung leaks at bottom of pool. My two Labs' toenails are trimmed regularly, so that wasn't the issue. Needs a more durable base, to be worth the price.Published on April 4, 2013 by John M. Grubb
I love this pool and so does my dog. It folds up nicely for storage. I wish that it was a bit deeper however because my dog(who is only an 11 pound maltese/yorkie mix) can stand in... Read morePublished on March 17, 2013 by Lex
This pool is easy to set up and drain and put away. But I have 2 large dogs that love water and only one fits in it at a time. I would be nice to have one that was larger.Published on January 6, 2013 by Cheryll
Wonderful purchase....my chocolate lab loves it. It is incredibly easy to set up and take down...drains and folds up. Very sturdy product. Would recommend to anyone.Published on July 5, 2012 by Carrie
The best thing about this pool for me is that it folds up and has the great drain plug. The bad is that it is quite small and did not last. Read morePublished on July 4, 2012 by Junior
