My husband and I say..... if you’re looking for lustful, loving and adventurous books to occupy your imagination on a cold winter night or on a lazy sunny beach then this series is the one for you. J. Carter Merwin has a way with words that detail the lust and love of the characters' involvement where other authors simply say, “The next day.....“. You become totally involved in her mysterious world and adventures, hating the antagonists and loving the protagonists, and wondering “what's next?” A must read.

This is the third of five volumes in the Tales of Earden. I hated to finish it, as it is the last one I have, as book 4 is not out yet. This continues the saga of the wars waging in the land of Earden, again bringing in new characters to weave with the old. The settings move around the kingdom, with new tribes being introduced as well. My favorite character in this story was Kora, a of the Wild Folk tribe, a powerful warrior woman. There are also subplots featuring Brillie, a young girl with special gifts (and the daughter of Aolwynd), the evil General Rute, brothers at cross purposes (or are they?), and much more. I very much look forward to reading the next installment!

The Guardian and the King is Volume III in J. Carter Merwin's Tales of Earden. This volume continues the immersion into the world of Earden, following the familiar characters of Aolwynd and Boru, so central to volume one and Arius, the focus of volume two. It adds some new characters, in particular the Wild Folk and the Bowmountain clan, and again each character so cleverly created and believably connected so that the world of Earden expands even further. As with the first two volumes, look for romance, swordplay and intrigue. The cliffhanger ending will make you immediately reach for volume four.
