Alex's attraction to Lisbeth didn't seem natural. I feel like the dreams they share created their attraction to each other. He lived at the castle an entire year without really caring about Lisbeth because she "kept to herself." Then suddenly when the King marries them by proxy, he realizes "hey, she's kind of pretty." Also, there's too much telling in this book and too many characters to keep track of --and really? The whole "seventh son of the seventh son" thing is cliche and unoriginal.
Overall, the book was only okay. There was a lot of other stuff that the the author could have focused on to make the book original, but she fell back on cliches to build her story.
The story had a slow start but once it warmed up I was all there! Really interesting twists made it more than your typical historical romance.
I loved Lisbeth from the start she is surprisingly independent for the time period/genre! I adore a gal who isn't looking to be saved! I was cheering her on from the get go! She is just the sort of strong female character I wish we saw more of in romances.
Alex was a tough sell for me, at the beginning I was not a huge fan. I was very happy to see him grow and earn his place in Lisbeth and my heart!
The story was great and the mystery was well paced. I was enthralled by the end!
The steam factor more mainstream than full on erotica. It was rather spicy at times! Definitely kicked my imagination into high gear!
reading the story. This story was different and very compelling. I give this book 5 Stars.
I Look forward to the rest of the brother's stories.
