These were gifts for my son who needed a quick security solution for the new house he was moving into. He ended up with three (HD models), and they've all been working fine with his older router over DSL

. You have to understand what these things can and can't do. They aren't a complete substitute for a full security system with door and window alarms, glass breaks and motion detectors, but are much better than nothing. Notifications get through and you can see what is going on via your phone if you get one, or if you just want to see what is going on at home. Part of the trick is positioning them where they do some good, without being triggered by passing cars, swaying trees, etc.

They are also great for keeping an eye on pets when you are out. One of these quickly answered the question about which dog was peeing on the carpet!

He did subscribe to the "premium" cloud storage service, not the free one that offers only brief clips, stored for 2 days in the ap. It was the cheapest they offer, I believe, but was all he needed, even with three units and large dogs wondering around one of them.

He had no problems with setup - that he told me about anyway. He would have complained if it was a pain.

Worked out better than I expected, actually.

Not a bad device at all for the money. I was hoping for a timer or scheduler that you could automate the on and off feature, but there is none.
It does well with the auto-arm setting when leaving your home. My primary reasons for buying this model was that there was no hub required and cloud service is not mandatory. In comparison to the outdoor Ring Doorbell, I prefer Guardzilla.
Ring Door Bell video cannot be turned off, only the Ring notifications can be turned off. That means if your gardener shows up you get 50 videos on phone of him worker that have to manually deleted every time. With this device, once you establish that you no longer need to capture the video, you simply just turn it off! I am looking to purchase the outdoor Guardzilla version now.

This is an excellent security camera and allows you to see your pet when you are away on your cell phone. This is the third one I bought. It is worth the price. I actually paid more for my first two. I can talk to my dog and she can hear me and reacts. You can also listen to what is being said in the room. You can take a picture if someone is moving if you arm it. You can also put it in a window and it will show you the view in the front or back of your house. I only pay $4.99 a month to have all of these options. I highly recommend trying this camera. You won't be sorry. You just download the app and it connects to this camera and that is all there is to setting it up.

Would like to have given it 5 stars but found out it's only 720p HD, not 1080p HD and the SD card maxes out @ 32G but for the money it does the job. You can opt in for paid for cloud storage and even paid for monitoring, which I have no interest in either. I bought so as to avoid those very things, which you can but if you want to see what's been recorded on the SD card you'll have to take it out and open it on your computer to watch any recorded video. You do get a viewable snapshot sent and saved to your camera that you can view without interacting with the SD card at all. Also, the siren and 2 way talk are good features and work as advertised. I've since seen a Samsung Pan & Tilt camera for about $50 more on sale, with all the above features & more, ie, Full 1080p 128GB SD card & the afore mentioned pan & tilt & more but it is more money too.

just spoke to tech support ..Note that with the new app if you change your wifi you HAVE to delete your cameras from the app and then treat them as a brand new install. You cannot just switch to the new wifi setup or to your new house wifi if you move because There is no "WiFi" choice under "settings-other options" anymore so that is why you have to delete and start fresh. Tech support knows the advice video is wrong, and are in process of updating it, but said that they keep changing the setup so the video would instantly be out of date. Also, for I phone users, turn off your cellular assist feature (settings-celluar-scroll to bottom and turn off). So far this has fixed my problems Note that my old 2nd generation Ipad freezes the video after about 2 minutes and I have to reboot the camera in the app, but my Iphone-7 has not frozen up as of yet and its been 15 minutes so someone elses comment about needing a "newer" device is probably accurate. PS- I am using this to monitor my 77yr old father with dementia and who is a fall risk, so this HAS to work flawlessly, if I have new issues I will update if everything works smoothly, then there will be no updates
