This book by Cathryn Grant "the guest" absolutely falls into the realm of "what were you thinking"!!?? I mean come on! Throughout the first 70% of this book all I could think was, "This is so NOT anything close to a psychological thriller" and up until then nothing, and I mean ABSOLUTELY nothing qualifies this book as suspenseful or thrilling!!!! I was thinking that Even if there is a "KILLER TWIST" at the end, it does not make the book! Im tired of having such high hopes for these books because of the description that is given when nothing could be further from the truth!! Of slogging through page after boring page to get to the tiny, interesting part....So im torn, I wasn't even going to finish it because at this point in the story it's mostly about her attraction to her husband's houseguest and the fact that her husband lost his job and treats her terribly, and never even told her and won't have sex with her (shocking) and her son is weird, and she can't find one of her favorite camisoles...
REALLY? OH and most of the book centers around her cooking dinner and her husband's friend Ace helping while her husband is a lazy jerk...which she never says or does anything about...so i better get back to reading it because this guy ACE just reached out and put a strand of hair behind her ear and apparently she has lost her mind, with all of the sexual tension of course....oh my....
well yeah that is scary..
NOT!! AT ALL!! Soooooo I did keep reading this book to the end because honestly I kind of liked her writing style and I kept HOPING it might get thrilling... and well it did get really good, about the last 20% of the book and honestly the ending was really shocking...so if the middle 60% of the book were taken out it would have been perfect!! Soooo, I have to give the book 4 stars for the ending alone. That being said, if you want to take the time to read it, the ending will truly surprise you!
Why would you allow the friend a cousin to live in your home? Why would you plan a murder by renting a car to disguise your movements but charge the car to your credit card? A disappointing 2 stars.

Life has been good to Ellie – she owns a successful art gallery, is deeply in love with her husband, Seth, and has two beautiful children, Brandon and Simone.
But not everything is perfect…
Lately, Seth seems to have something on his mind and has become cold and distant. And things don’t improve when he invites mysterious stranger Ace to stay in their home.
Ace is charming, but Ellie can’t help feeling there’s more to him than meets the eye, that he has some kind of agenda. She’s also aware that she is dangerously attracted to him.
Then a girl at Brandon’s school is murdered, and Ellie is beyond devastated when the police tell her they think her son might be involved.
Ellie knows in her heart that Brandon is innocent and she feels certain that Ace is somehow connected to the disturbing things that are happening. She starts to dig for the truth and uncovers the terrible secret that will change her life in ways she can’t imagine…
This is a brilliant read.
