About the Author
Ruth Beaumont Cook was born in Cleveland, Ohio. She spent the summer of 1961the summer the wall went up between East and West Berlinas an exchange student living with a family in Germany. She is a graduate of The Ohio State University and lives in Birmingham, Alabama. Her first book, North Across the River, documented a little-known Civil War incident involving General Sherman and Confederate textile workers.
