I love this book, and I use it all the time. It has a wonderful collection of recipes and ideas about housekeeping, along with beautiful photographs. It has a lot more information in its pages than some similar books. It is not so much a guide to green housekeeping, but a guide to housekeeping, that in its very nature is green. A delightful read, and I use this book on a regular basis to look up different cleaning recipes.

This book was so interesting that I am ordering 3 more copies for each one of my sisters. I actually am now using only natures products to clean my home such as vinagar, lemon, and baking soda. I have honestly thrown away all the chemical cleaning product under my sink and I'm washing my clothes with baking soda and vinagar. Believe me this book can change a persons life just reading the 1st two chapters.

Many good ideas and well-know recipes in France, but I learned new stuff anyway and I think this book is very useful to save money and spare our planet.
I am also a big fan of Cabbages & Roses which belongs to the author. It is very English, beautiful, handy, useful, smart, clever as is this book.
The pictures are cool and beautiful (even if the paper is recycled) and the explanations so simple and easy to use.
I recommend strongly, by hoping people will be more aware of the importance of sparing and being "more natural".

I love this book. I bought a copy for my daughter, kept it and got her another one. It is so warm and comfortable to sit down and read it. In these days of the internet, Pinterest and Instagram we need to sit down now and then with a book like this. The author spent a great deal of time creating this lovely collection of exquisite photographs, recipes and how to"s and It's so nice to sit down and peruse these pages. Many useful ideas and philosophies and I enjoy reading and re-reading this relaxing volume.

A number of reviewers have scoffed at the idea that anyone would take the time to pursue some of these housekeeping avenues and of course I can understand that, but I am a spinner and a weaver of linen and wool household items and people often ask me why I am a fiber craftswoman. All I can say is that I feel close to Mother Earth when I work with natural items and I gain a lot of satisfaction from creating table linens that we can use everyday and launder them again and again.

I love the presentations and photos in this book - they are small vignettes of a housekeepers home.

Such a lovely book! I first borrowed this from the library and after paging through it I knew I had to buy it. There is so much good information and beautiful photography. It's chock full of recipes, storage solutions, decorating tips, and natural cleaning ideas. The ideas in this book make house keeping look easy, breezy and natural but still kept up and beautiful. Imagine sunshine streaming through gauzy curtains, lots of natural wood and a basket of hand-picked apples. There are a lot of simple, inexpensive ideas about practical things like preserving fruits and vegetables, pest control, and mending clothing but also lots of tips on things like keeping a pretty linen closet and how to buy more meaningful gifts for your loved ones. It's all done in a way that's easy to understand and pretty to look at. I'm 25 and just starting to buy "adult" things to furnish my home with, and this book is a great inspiration for the more natural, lived-in home that still looks lovely.

This book is great. HOWEVER, it is EXACTLY the same as her "Guide to Natural Housekeeping," a fact that was not apparent to me until I ordered both and compared them to find that the only difference is the cover and title. So, don't order both if you are looking for further info! That said, the info that IS provided is great!
