"Guide to Non-Profits" makes one appreciate the number of land-mines and challenges in non-profit financial management. It is an excellent roadmap, not only for those starting out in this field, but for seasoned professionals to use in educating their non-finance colleagues (fundraisers, program staff) and new hires.
This book should be on the shelves of every HR professional to be given to new hires in the accounting and finance departments.
I look forward to Ms. Shanker's next guide for non-profit managers.
I highly recommend this book -- not just for hired staff but for board members and anyone with fiduciary responsibilities for non-profits.
