Some favorite topics include advice for filling (not killing) your time once retired and how to work part-time without losing social security/retirement benefits. Filled with simple charts and graphs, it contains great visual tools for helping put boomer finances in perspective with the rest of the country. (The statistics for that generation's purchasing power alone is mind-boggling!) Everything mentioned is reputable, focusing on acquiring wealth the right way and keeping debt to a minimum (something that's often glossed over in other books in this niche.)
If you don't have a boomer in your life to share this book with, it's a great educational read, nonetheless. I would recommend that younger adults give it a try to fully understand the nuisances of social security benefits and health care, now - before they find themselves unprepared for the later years. This is the stuff they don't teach in schools, but might be some of the most important life lessons!
In his latest book Mahoney shares his 19 years of knowledge in the finance world in an honest and readable way. He shares genuine advice on compromises one can make in order to facilitate the retirement that was planned. He gives an honest look at the struggles the retiree will have to overcome but his ideas for making retirement happen are easy to understand and written with compassion.
What Now? A Guide to Retirement During Volatile Times is a must have resource for everyone in planning their retirement profile.
