What kind of changes appear in this version of the 'Guide'? First, there is a change in biblical reference source. I'm not sure which Bible the editor is using, but it's not the King James Bible of the 1846 edition. That may or may not be significant for an individual reader.
The second notable change is in paragraphing. For example, the first paragraph of the 1846 edition contains four sentences. In this edition each sentence is given its own paragraph. What in the 1846 edition was the second paragraph, now becomes the fifth paragraph in this new edition. Personally, I find this puzzling. Not exactly disruptive, but I don't see that it serves the 'Guide' well or makes it more comprehensible. Again, personally, I prefer the original paragraphing as I think it gives the 'Guide' a clearer thematic unfolding. On the other hand, I realize that modern writers tend to shorter paragraphs and sentences and new readers of the 'Guide' might find this style more agreeable.
Other changes include moderate changes in word usage. On the whole I think the editing job was considered, respectful of the original, and allows the message of the 'Guide' to come through. Although I personally prefer the original 1846 edition, and would recommend that those interested in it order it from Nabu (available on Amazon), I can see that some people will find this attractive edition more accessible. My recommendation is to read both of them; as the work is short this should not be a problem.
