My husband added 3 latches and a bungee cord on one of the open sides to minimize fall risk.
It was easy to put together and my daughter was in it and jumping up and down somewhat wildly right away. It's sturdy for a small child. And she loves it - she figured out how to push it around the kitchen to get up to where the action is.
The drawback / bad design for this is definitely the shape cut-outs on the side. I'd seen other reviews mention this so it's a common issue. After telling my toddler not to climb the dozenth time, I realized I needed to rig something to keep her from climbing because it was just too tempting. So, here's a solution that works...
Take a scissors to the short sides of the box it shipped in - they're almost perfect size for this. Trim cardboard a bit on the short side to fit the width of the Kitchen helper side. Then put it on the inside, covering the cut-outs and it should be long enough to have the edge slide to the side of the standing platform. I taped the top edge of the cardboard to the top edge of the Helper. If she figures out how to take the tape off, I'll try alligator clips. But, for now, this works like a charm and I can still easily take off the cardboard to fold it away on occasion.
My son loves being up by the counter and seeing what we are doing though but it is a little dangerous so we put it away until he gets older.
