Standard units in blocks are very useful as they are proportional in size. For instance, two squares will equal a rectangle, two quarter circles will equal a half circle, etc. Blocks in standard sizes expose young children to fractions and math through the trial and error of play way before they are ready for formal learning and can also be used when they begin school for explaining and illustrating these concepts.
