Editorial Reviews

Guitarist Jerry Cole, who worked with everyone from Sinatra and Elvis to the Beach Boys and Byrds, led this psychedelic-exploitation band, who recorded just one LP. These fuzzed-out instrumentals have long been hunted by collectors and are joined by bonus cuts from other Cole acts; dig these titles: Sure Listic; Sock It My Way; Sippin' and Trippin'; I Said, She Said, Ah Cid , and more on CD or double-vinyl!

Wow, O.K., I'll step up and comment on this stunning piece of music. As the story goes, this was a studio project (not really a band.) The album upon its initial release was found in the bargain bins and went unnoticed for the most part. The guitarist featured here is a studio legend by the name of Jerry Cole. If you like fuzzy freaky sixties instrumental psych., then this is for you. It really doesn't get much better than this. Kudos to Sundazed for putting together such a fine collection. The complete album is here plus several additional tracks from various other Jerry Cole projects. I guess what is so striking about this music is that it's instrumental. It's so hip that if you're not careful you may time-warp and find yourself trapped in one of those obscure anti-drug educational films from the 60's/70's.

O.K., gotta go boys and girls. There should be no contemplating with this purchase. I am not associated with the creator or seller of this item. I have nothing to gain. Get it now while you can. I try to sift through as much stuff as I can and I rarely find an album that is this strong in content/style. You can thank me later.

Looks to be Animated Egg's only currently available title out at this time. A good twenty-one track compilation of fuzz guitar / electric psychedelic to thoroughly soak in here. Read somewhere that Animated Egg previously had put out just one self-titled lp in 1968. On this CD, you notably get that album's initial ten cuts + eleven bonus tracks. Some of the tunes that I thought made this CD worthwhile are the wailing "Inside Looking Out", the familiar-sounding "T'Omorrow", "Down, Down And Gone", "Free Form In 6", the laid back "Our Man Hendrix" and almost jazz-like "Tune Out Of Place". I was unable to locate a line-up for this CD, but guitarist Jerry Cole (has worked with the Beach Boys, Them, Dion, Nancy Sinatra, Gene Clark, among others) is apparently the key musician. Should appeal to fans of Electric Flag, Steve Cropper and early Steve Miller.

Track 4 = "Gimme Some Lovin'" (a song by the Spencer Davis Group). Track 13 = "The Nazz Are Blue" (a song by the Yardbirds / Jeff Beck). Track 19 = Track 3 without the organ but with additional guitar. Track 9 has psychedelic guitar with awesome reverb. For me tracks 1, 3, 5, 9, 14, 15 and 21 were the most interesting. (Track 21 was already available on "Buzz Buzz Buzzzzzz Volume 2".) Most of the other tracks are rather like background music, they don't really stick with you. Outstanding wide stereo sound quality from the original tapes. Booklet with copious notes.
