I am comfortable with guitar, and will return this book since it never mentions anything related to Music Therapy except for in it's title.
It covers all the essentials needed to effectively lead groups--and the benefits are in no way limited to educators and therapists! This is a must-have for any group leader, including those running camps, scout leaders, day care professionals, church members, recreational therapists, counselors, and more.
The techniques in this book include essentials such as: blues progressions, embellishments, power chords and barre chords, fingerpicking, flatpicking, scales, modes, and even a chapter on guitar maintanence. This book includes narritve explanations of techniques, traditional notation, tabulature, and even a DVD. Regardless of your learning style, there's something for you.
Mr. Meyer covers both finger picking and flat picking skills with illustrated examples in notation and on the DVD. This includes the most basic strum and picking to complicated picking and a variety of beats and strumming patterns.
It covers MODES, power chords; blues forms; rock; jazz progression; different strums and beats. It teaches skills at every level of playing. The DVD is extremely helpful if you want to see "How it looks and is done".
Each selection is to the point and very clear. It would be wise to have this available if you want a systematic progression of skills and knowledge on the guitar. I highly recommend it!
