Ok......so I was skeptical to buy this since there are absolutely no reviews for this case. I dont usually do reviews but since there are no reviews of this case I though I should definitely contribute to the amazon community looking for a durable, shockproof and stylish case fot their new iPhone 5. I bought a black iphone 5 as a gift for my dad. He is a guy who has bad luck holding onto his phone and as they say he has the so called butterfingers. He keeps dropping his phone from time to time. So I needed something really durable and shockproof( even though the iphone 5 fairs pretty well compared to the iphone 4/4s in drop tests) and also that was little bit stylish. Many of you would think the first choice would be an Otterbox defender and I did get that along with my phone. But lets be honest the otterbox cases especially the defender series are probably the ugliest and bulkiest cases on the market, but I went with it anyway as my dad needed protection for his phone from day 1. But I was not happy with it and neither was he. So I came across this on amazon and ordered it, liked it(so did my dad) and returned the otterbox. Below are listed benefits of this case-

1) It is a two layer case with an internal frame with an integrated screen protector and an outer rubberized shockproof layer- very similar to the otterbox defender series in terms of protection.

2) It is less bulky and thinner compared to otterbox and also has a more sporty design. The red linings look cool.

3) It feels much better gripping this case due to the grooves and tire style treading on the back

4) Ports are much more easily accessible than the otterbox defender

Overall this is a really great case and although there are not many color options available I highly recomend it to anyone who wants to be worry free about accidently dropping theit new iPhone.

Initially I gave it 5 star but downgraded to 3 stars as it attracts lint from your pocket and after 2 days looks 1000 yrs old. seriously.

Great protection, good looks, not too bulky

After my wife's Android phone fell out of her pocket and shattered on the driveway we learned the value of a good case. When we replaced the Android with an iPhone 4S everyone said to get the Otterbox Defender. While the Defender does an excellent job of protecting the phone from my 2 year old (and my wife) it is bulky and ugly. Since I had 2 weeks to wait for my iPhone 5 to ship from Verizon I started searching for a case that not only offered good protection but also didn't add too much bulk and was pleasing to the eyes. Lifeproof seemed to make a good product but wasn't ready for the market yet. Most of the the other cases did not offer the same level of protection as the Defender. Then I found the Gumdrop. It seemed the best of both worlds so I ordered it. I finally got my phone yesterday and I am very happy with the case. It fits the phone well and seems very protective. It isn't much smaller than the Defender but I think it looks alot better. The built in screen protector works well and I like that all of the ports are covered. The rubber grip feels good in your hand and prevents it from slipping on a surface. There are both smaller cases and tougher cases out there but I think this one is a good compromise of the 2.

Purchased this for my new iPhone. Looks great; my phone fits very snugly inside. I have not dropped the phone/case yet, so cannot attest to its durability. It seems like it would take a drop. My only concern is that the front clear cover for the face of the phone is pretty flimsy. Perhaps it's stronger than it looks, but my old OtterBox face seemed a bit thicker and stronger. If you've had a similar case, like OtterBox, the Gumdrop is easy to get your phone into without instruction and quick to assemble and take apart. It seems to be more sensitive to the touch than OtterBox and that could be because the plastic face seems thinner than what I'm used to. There does seem to be slight distortion (very slight) as the clear plastic shield touches the face of the phone. But that is only in one small spot and is hardly noticeable. I had a similar problem with the OtterBox. Overall, it's a pretty good case with, in my opinion, a very cool design/look. Oh, and it cost about the same as the OtterBox I had for my earlier phone.

This is my second gumdrop case in three years and I love them. The phone I have gets abused in a shop and construction environment and I find this case offers all the protection for a great price. Plus it can stay on top of a moving car(yikes!) for miles without falling off, thanks to its rubber grip!
I am not wild about the new colors- the red and black are more like pink and black. My old one was white, which I loved, as it had a stormtrooper look to it.
Great product for the price. I never removed it once I put the phone inside and never had issues with it peeling on the sides.

Was considering otter box vs gumdrop for the iPhone 5. Got the gumdrop. Fist thing I got rid of was the built in plastic protector. It sucks. Left space between phone and screen. Removed it very easily and installed own screen protector. Much better. Bad stuff: it makes typing harder because of the bulky edges around screen, such as space bar but u get used to it.
Bonus: I feel this is a very protective case and feels good in my hands. Plus looks cool and unique.

I have had the iPhone case for a little over 2 weeks now and so far find it to be strong and sturdy as well. It does add a little bulk and the screen protector takes away some of pictures' dazzling clarity, but that's a trade-off I expected and was happy to make for more protection and peace of mind.
