Most any artist will find fans but, with all due respect, I found these guys to be pretty awful. First is Adrian Gurvitz. . I just don't think he's that good. First off, I found the sound of his guitar to be annoying. His solos sound as though he's playing them on his neck pick-up which grated on my nerves. The songs themselves were unremarkable. The singing likewise. And too many of the songs didn't end. They just faded out. You can only get away with that so many times. Then there were some songs that were barely songs at all. They were almost just exercises in rhythm dressed up with horns, and sometimes, strings. I cannot imagine what those songs were supposed to sound like live. The drums and bass are good enough I suppose, but you need to be better good enough in a three piece outfit. Sometimes I given artist/project needs a few listens to find its way. I tried a second listen but couldn't make it all the way through. It hurt too much.
I've been buying music since the Beatles first hit and now I'm trying to go back and fill in the blanks with artists I might have missed. Gun has come up now and again so I thought they might be worth pursuing. Boy was I wrong.
Take Off and the bonus track Drives You Mad. The CD also has 4 bonus tracks the afformentioned Drives You Mad and the single versions of Race With The Devil, Sunshine and Rupert's Travels. Buy it, it rocks.

Race with the Devil is an excellent late sixties hard rock track. The remainder of the album is diverse in nature IMO and whilst certainly not bad tends to lack drive and punch.Published 19 months ago by AussieSteve
