You CANNOT count on their product to work properly any longer. Maybe at one time you could but not any more. God save you if you have to call Support. Support is of little or no use.
It is sad to see another American company trading on a reputation earned long ago but now soiled from greed and outsourcing.
The following week I received the replacement safe. Same problem. I was suspicious of the battery, maybe the brand I was using was not optimal, or even though the batteries I had in my drawer were new and unopened, they had been sitting in the drawer for too long. I stopped and bought a brand new battery on my way home from work (Duracell) and that seemed to work. This bothers me a little bit though since the original batteries I tried appeared not to have enough power to open the safe, but yet the LED indicator light did not indicate that the battery needed to be changed. I am wondering how this will play out down the road when the current battery starts to lose power but the indicator light does not let me know. Will I go to use the safe in an emergency and have it not work? I have decided to take a chance on this safe since the quality is good, and the size is perfect for my application. Perhaps I will be sure to change the battery out on a yearly basis.
