From the Back Cover

When it comes to cooking and eating outdoors, I take it to the extreme. I'm a huge fan of monster-size camping trips and full-tilt backyard parties. Whether you're hosting a poolside barbecue, relaxing around the campfire, or tailgating on game day, my favorite outdoor recipes are guaranteed to get your grill going.

Deliver a taste of Flavortown in your own backyard with Bacon Wrapped Hot Dogs with Spicy Fruit Relish or Crispy Zucchini Planks with Parmesan and Aioli. Take your tailgating party to the extreme with Asian-Style Fried Chicken and Spicy Cracked Chile Crab. Turn up the heat at the lake with Chorizo and Polenta Casserole and Chipotle Corn Salad with Grilled Bacon. Rock the campground with Smoked Salmon Hash and Old School Baked Beans with Molasses. And celebrate the holidays with Fire-Roasted Margherita Pizza and Brandied Green Peppercorn Hanger Steak.

Do you have ADD? Well, I do! So there are a number of reasons I like this book. First of all, I love how shamelessly self-promoting Mr. Fieri is even in his own book. I already bought it--why does he have to keep convincing me that he's totally awesome and parties with his bestie Sammy Hagar all the time? Anyway, once you kind of get over the rodomontade--wait, actually it's so astounding that you never get over it. You can almost hear him as if he were right there reading to you--fantasy, nightmare--it's quite the experience. In fact, I have read it so closely just for its entertainment value that I finally can't see the harm in loving yourself too much when you are *this* personable. In brief, you hate his guts so hard that you end up falling in love. It's like that.

I can only say this because the recipes are very, very good. I checked it out from the library first and kind of left it around where my husband might see it and *think about the possibility* of cooking. Then I tried out a few recipes myself and, finally (selfishly) decided to buy it for my sweetie for Christmas, "a gift that keeps on giving." Guy On Fire is chock full of color photos and black and white sketches, as well as useful information about cooking on different types of grills, and it's hardbound so you can abuse it like you should. All these colorful group photos, food photography, personal narrative, anecdotes--not to mention descriptive recipes and technique--packaged up in its tattooed guy aesthetic makes Guy On Fire a practical cultural artifact of our grotesque but tasty nation.

‘Guy on Fire’ prepared by Guy Fieri is a slightly different collection of recipes from those typically encountered in the market, and when I say that I do not think primarily because of the food and recipes found inside, but the manner of presentation that is quite different from other cookbooks, just as the author himself is apparently different from other chefs.

Inside its covers you'll find a lot of good humor, comics, and personal photographs while there are a bit less photographs of food and recipes preparation therefore those people who enjoy classic cookbooks might be a little disappointed.

Fieri’s book of 350 pages is divided into five chapters whose names speak for them what are them all about - Backyard Bash, Extreme Tailgating, At the Lake, Campground Cookin’ and Holiday Cookout - preparing meals outdoors on various occasions.

The cover says that inside can be found 130 recipes though it seems to me as the number is slightly smaller, but it is probably a matter of presentation that made such an impression.

So if you love to eat outside, like grilled meat and barbecue and you don’t mind that the chef (and his book) are not the classic ones, give it a chance to this likeable fellow, he and his recipes certainly deserve it.

Rarely do I come across a cookbook that inspires me to create each and every meal within its pages; in fact, I think this is the only one. My husband and I have experimented with many of Guy's recipes in "Guy on Fire", with pleasure and great success. I'm so glad we purchased it, and feel confident it will be one of our all-time favorites. BTW: prior to purchasing, I was concerned that other reviewers commented on the book's awkward layout. I was pleased to find that an absolute non-issue. It reads and functions fine for me.

I bought this for my husband for Father's Day along with a grill light for his new Weber grill. We have found so many amazing recipes to try, it is simply awesome. I have made the Upside down pineapple, blueberry marinated rum cake and everyone just raved. We are going to try the stuffed, grilled pork chops this week. I can't wait!

Some of his recipes have LONG lists of ingredients which tends to be off-putting to me, but I like the ones I've tried. If you have some time and want something different, this book does not disappoint. I personally like the addition of 'heat', and tend to use this more in the summer for some reason. Recipes are creative.

I like to grill, and this book was different than all the other books I own. Guy has a unique take on grilling that takes it to the next level. I did some awesome grilling that had my neighbors all salivating and coming over with their plates ready. The only reason I knocked off a star is that there was nothing about the author lighting himself on fire, although the title alludes to that. I would have liked to learn a little fire safety around the grill since I recently singed my eyebrows off. Good book otherwise.

My daughters 24th birthday was great today. She loves to cook and try different recipes and this is her favorite chef.
Book has lots of personal and fun, informative photos. You'll simply enjoy reading it even if you don't have much experience cooking. Easy to follow and food is so delicious. Great book.

I have made a ton of dishes from this book and I can say they have all been hits. I love to grill and having this book is a must. Some of the recipes are a little harder than others and call from some different ingredients. That is normal for any cook book.
