As primarily a Western Saw user, after using this one for a few months, I'm tempted to dive further down the Japanese tool rabbit hole. Tremendous quality. You would have to pay double to find a Western saw of equal quality.
Handles are lightweight and easy to grip. Blades are great, and last a long time. But when they do need replacing, just unscrew the bolt and then take out the blade. Replace the bolt and you are done.
The handle is a natural fiber material, rattan or something similar? Sort of like an unfinished wicker chair or something. My partner hated the handle, and I found the grip of the rough fibers to be nice and allows a really loose handle on the saw, reducing hand fatigue.
The long 2.5 hand handle mimics a samurai sword, which is super awesome, and makes you feel like a samurai when you're cutting the straightest dovetails ever.
The kerf on the saw is crazy small. I didn't bother measuring because compared to my shark saw, which has very fine teeth, these teeth are even more fine.
My old millenial eyes aren't what they used to be, but the blade looks to be a crosscut, but a VERY fine one.
