She heads back to the Gypsy Sons compound where she auditions with the man who ruined her life, Dornan. Very quickly Dornan becomes obsessed with Julz, who he knows as Sammi, and Julz finds herself in too deep. Julz also faces another problem, Dornan's younger son Jase, her childhood love is also in the compound, and his presence ignites old feelings once buried.
I found this series to be thrilling, shocking and enthralling. There is nothing quite like a revenge tale, and I loved reading about Julz killing off a bunch of the men who raped her. She is such a strong and believable character, mostly because even though she constantly has doubts about what she's doing, she follows through with getting it done. I would have liked a bit more backstory on her relationship with Eliott and Jase, a little more on the connection and history she shared with them would have made it easier to see why they fought so hard to help her and keep her alive, but St. Germain did a good job of making the reader believe the romance without a lot of backstory (or to clarify, as much as I would like).
Dornan was flipping crazy. Just when I thought he couldn't get more demented, he brought out more of his inner psycho. Like stabbing a girl in the leg while giving her oral sex? Then all of the torture scenes in book 5? I seriously thought I was going to ralph when I read the parts about knives making sucking noises in chests. Ugh. But you know what? He made a fantastic villain was the guy you love to hate.
I don't really have a strong opinion on Jase or Elliot, to me they were background for the plot, but I love that Julz got some version of a happy ending with one of them at the end of the journey.
Thank you to Lili St. Germain, you are the author that made me enjoy dark and twisted books. Until now I haven't really cared for them, but now I'm willing to broaden my reading horizons.
Series rating a 4.28 stars after averaging the ratings from all 7 books
This book is None of the above. Instead it subsumes your being, physical ,emotional and metaphysical. It gives you an insight into the psyche of a dark and horrific nature of human being, what happens when he's wronged, he turns into this monster - Dornan Ross, who has no qualms about picking a young, tender , flower soft girl of 15 and extracts revenge.
The basic word of torture does not have the ability to encompass the horrors this beautiful, tender sweet girl goes through that night. (And I'm crying again). She's pinned down and the monster -Dornan, unleashes his wild pack of dogs on her - his 6 sons .what follows is gruesome, gory, barbaric and animalistic.....
How that girl survives and why she doesn't die , boggles your mind. I almost wished she had 😣
But I guess she way revived to bring down Gypsy Brothers MC.
She single handedly brings down half the clan before the Beast discovers her. What he does to her is not possible for any human, animal or living organism to endure.
Each and every word made me cringe and I prayed....I begged the Dear Lord to kill her to end her misery. She survives. How ? Why ?..... To finish her job.
During her journey for revenge she meets the first boy she fell in love with , but here's the brilliance of lili.st.germain , she NEVER for a second deviates from the plot. The story never strays from the path.it follows a tight passage of this girls journey and I sincerely wished for respite from pain, but Dornan is more than a Beast , he's like an Omnipotent Medusa that crushes Juliettes life even from afar. He pulls the strings and she drives back in to his lair. Does he feel sorry for his acts, is he redeemed, is there any closure for julz and Jase?
I can't tell you , but hear this , I'm crying still when I write this review.
The story impacts you like a meteor. There's nothing subtle about it, nothing beautiful about it , except in complete devastation there's a path for julz towards her happiness.......maybe!
This book is not a love story, yet it's a book about Love.
its not about jase and Julz, it's about Dornan Ross and Juliette Portland
They are tied together by ties stronger and far more tighter than love. They are ties of blood, revenge, torture, pain and Death
I went on a rant, sorry, but this book impacted me harder than any I've read and I hope and pray lili writes another book about julz and Jase where they find peace and love and maybe pieces if her broken heart come together . Thank you for writing this book and making me cry
I bought this box set because it had an exclusive novella in it. Alternate is a novella that gives insight to the minds of three of the main characters . I devoured it... and once again it was a five star read.
Review for Alternate...
I didn't think that Lili St. Germain could deliver any more surprises as far as the Gypsy Brothers were concerned. The Ross men were beyond the normal definition of psychotic and twisted. They had their own brand of violence and retribution. Jase was the only member of the family that had any redeeming qualities.
Alternate tells a completely different story. This short novella gets inside the heads of Dornan, Jase, and Elliot. It gives the readers insight to their insanity, their motivations, and conscience. I thought I knew these men but Lili St. Germain threw in a truckload of shockers. I walked away shocked by the revelations. Jase has a whole other dimension to his personality that proves what kind of blood runs through his veins. These revelations are going to make Zero Hour the most intense book in the Gypsy Brothers series. I can't wait!
