Grady Havens, along with his brothers, runs the family charter boat business. He always dives into work head first trying to forget the pain of his true love, his soul mate, leaving him all those years ago.
Nadya Montgomery is returning to the town that raised her after leaving 14 years ago. She comes back hoping the magic of Gypsy Beach will lead her to heal.
When Grady & Nadya are finally pushed back into each other's arms, they know this is where they were always meant to be.
I really loved this new edition to the Gypsy Beach series by Jillian Neal. Jillian brings all the essentials for a sexy romance; the sexy hero, a strong woman, suspense, emotions, love, humor and of course some smokin' hot scenes between Grady & Nadya.
You also get to learn a little of the history of Gypsy Beach, and Grady & Nadya's families. This is another fantastic read to help a reader really escape from reality for a little while! I am really looking forward to more Gypsy Beach novels from Jillian!
The story starts off by Nadya running away from her life in California to get away from her vengeful ex-husband who beat her. Since she is broken both in body and spirit, she goes back to the only place that she can think of where she felt safe and wanted, Gypsy Beach where she grew up. Enter Grady, he is the boy that Nadya has never stopped loving and after 14 years of not being together they reunite by accident. Or is there Gypsy Magic at work pulling them back together. Grady has his hang-ups though, because of the hurtful things he put Nadya through all those years ago. He decides that while she is there at the beach that he will avoid her so that he doesn't inflict anymore pain on her. What they don't realize is that they both are trying to heal separately, but what they really need to heal is to be with each other again. Will they get to be together forever? Or will the vengeful ex-husband come back and put an end to all that is being reborn for Grady and Nadya in their new relationship together?
You will need to read this really great story to find out how it ends. It is a relationship that went wrong and burned to ashes, only to raise up and heal all of the past hurts to become something new and beautiful again.
This is my first book by Jillian Neal and we got off to a bit of a slow start but at about the halfway mark, give or take a few chapters, I found myself totally engrossed in the book and in the end found it to be an enjoyable read about two people learning to forgive themselves for their past transgressions and look to building their future together all while fighting the prejudices that come
with being a Gypsy.
The slow start for me had much to do with Grady and Nadya because they just didn’t jump off the page for me in the beginning, I found myself more interested in finding out who was breaking and entering and framing the Gypsies and the other characters than them. Horrible, I know, but while I felt empathy for what they had both been through I just couldn’t connect with either of them in the beginning and even after they finally came face to face it still took me awhile to get on board with them, but once they started to work their issues out they both finally came alive on the page and I got to see just who they were to each other before Nadya fled and what they could be together if only they allowed it to happen, which they did. The process isn’t as long and arduous as you would think considering what had driven them apart and then brought them back together, they grew up together, they were each others solace for years before becoming lovers and it shows in their interactions with each other and that connection actually helps to move them forward instead of holding them back.
The writing, despite the fact that the beginning was a bit slow for me, was engaging. I loved the secondary cast of characters, Grady’s brothers and their interactions with each other had me wishing they were mine, and I like the way she showed the prejudice the Gypsy’s deal with daily. The mystery and suspense aspect did keep me guessing and the reveal at the end wasn’t what I was expecting.
The Bottom Line: Though this one took be a bit to get into, I found it to be an enjoyable and quite smexy read and will be keeping my eye out for the others in the series.
