In 1909, artist Pamela Colman Smith’s involvement with the Order of the Golden Dawn led to a commission to create a 78-card tarot deck that was the first to include full pictorial scenes for the Minor Arcana. Pamela’s mystical influences are evident throughout the art.

Here are my complaints: despite being printed in Italy (not China!) the finish on the cards is cheap. Purple on my fingers after first use. They print easily (like finger printing) and I can’t really clean them because the ink smudges. DON’T GET THEM WET! Or even damp as I made the mistake of, using them after I had washed my hands and they weren’t *totally* dry. I also don’t care for the image on the backs. Tacky and disrespectful. The interior images are fine. I like the size of the cards, it’s easy to travel and work with. I am no Lenormand expert, but from what I have seen of other decks I feel like this is the best one. It has all the original cards without any omissions. The images are by far the most respectful and relevant and you certainly can’t beat the price.
I have an electronic copy of an Astro-Mythological Deck plus a data sheet listing the meanings of the cards(because the card meanings of the Gypsy Witch deck sounded so old fashioned), I compared them to my Lenormand sheet card for card, word for word and they all matched exactly. To those who call this a dark deck; you don't know what you have. This is a western (American) version of a card deck that has been in continuous use since about 1790. And the meanings now are the same as they were then besides; every fortune is not always good.
Plus, if this deck was produced by Lo Scarabeo do you know how much it would cost? Much more than 4.99, I'm sure. I'm also surprised that U.S. Game Systems prints this deck so inexpensively. For a deck printed in the U.S. continuously for over 100 years, some things about it may seem out of date but that's what makes the cards so interesting. For an extremely reasonable price and a small piece of history, it is definitely worth the purchase!
