I should say that the cast aluminum boxes drill a little easier than the stamped aluminum boxes, but mayby that's just me.
I have used these cast aluminum (diecast?) cases for many instruments I've made. If you are going to go to the trouble to build something really nice go with the cast aluminum.
I would recommend using a drill press, if you have access to one, rather than a hand drill to make holes in this thing. It's easy for a hand drill bit to get stuck (because it's not perfectly perpendicular), especially with larger holes, such as the ones needed for 1/4" audio jacks or stomp switches.
