1.0 out of 5 stars Not ready for prime time
By Army Soldier on December 13, 2013
Just picked up the Hapifork today and after giving it a shot, I have to say, this product is not ready for the big leagues yet and is still in prototype stage. There are problems with the device and the website that warrant attention. First, the website. After I used the Hapifork and synced it to my computer and cellphone app, the data from the app did not match the data on the webpage. I took a photo of this and will try posting it. Additionally, I could not sync my Withings scale or Fitbit to the dashboard, which I believe was a glitch with the Hapifork site. The Hapifork webpage is also cluttered with distracting links and eye candy that serves no useful purpose. As for the device, it is big and clunky and looks rather awkward. I don't know if I would want to be seen in public with this utensil. There was some initial problems with pairing, but after about 5 tries, I got a connection. Once I started eating, I encountered some more issues. For one, you have to be very conscious of how you move the fork, so that it registers that you are using it. Very annoying, and unnatural. I was also a bit worried about metal vibrating rapidly on my teeth as I bite down, a sensation that I am sure in unpleasant. Unfortunately, I had high hopes for the Hapifork, but after dealing with all of the issues on my first try, I think this will be a quick return. I will continue to experiment with the Hapifork, but I am not initially impressed.
