I have had one of these single-cup coffee drip dispensers for a long time. It uses a standard #2 paper filter, but I use #4 filters instead, since they are cheaper (but the #4 filter will stick up a bit past the top edge of this cone). It is still going strong after almost ten years, and I wash it every month or so on the top rack of my dishwasher.

I decided to get another one, since it is hard to find good functional products like this anymore. It has FOUR holes in the bottom that allow for quick, even draining of the water after you pour it over the grounds. I use about 20 to 30 grams of ground coffee to make a 12 to 18 ounce cup of coffee. I have used both store-bought ground coffee (in the past) and now fresh ground coffee (I grind the beans finely, so the 4 holes on the bottom help keep the water flowing through properly).

This cone will fit on top of large and small cups alike: the outer diameter of the base is 4.75 inches, which means it will fit quite comfortably on a cup that has a top diameter of 4.5 inches, and the inside diameter (where the coffee seeps through) is only 2 inches in diameter, which means it will fit on *any* cup with a top diameter between 2.25 inches and 4.5 inches. The base, excepting the 4 holes, is solid, so VERY LITTLE HEAT ESCAPES from your cup while the cone is on top of it and the water is still seeping through.

Recently, I visited Blue Bottle coffee shop in Brooklyn, the lastest coffee extravaganza from San Francisco, and realized that they have some really good tasting coffee. I was intrigued that they didn't use the regular filter machines like other less-snobby coffee places. Instead, they used the pour-over technique that in their own words intensifies the flavor of the coffee and lets you enjoy your cup of joe. Amazingly, they did not lie, and I immediately wanted to switch from regular filter to pour-over. Of course, they were ready to help, and wanted to sell me their porcelain filter cone for a great price of just under $30. Since money is not found on streets these days, plan B was to go to Amazon and see if it would be possible to buy something that is priced for normal people who are not posh Brooklynites.

The answer is in front of you, this little piece of plastic magic combined with good quality coffee and constantly boiling water on your stove will return your faith in
good coffee. The cone is good for two cups of coffee, so it will probably serve well most of the households.

This cone has 4 holes in the bottom, so the water drains right through and the coffee is very weak. I stuff aluminum foil in the bottom every morning to try to slow it down, and it helps but still drains too fast. Haven't had a good cup of coffee with this cone since it arrived. Miss my old one, and I'm still looking for one that works better.

I am very particular about my coffee. I have the Melitta #2 plastic coffee cone holder at home and love it. I needed a second one to keep on our boat and bought this one because it was in stock.

It has 4 large holes through which the water passes...way too fast so you get lightly colored water instead of a delicious cup of coffee as you get with the Melitta. I think it is $0.80 more and it is in stock now.

This one goes into the trash. Junk.

The description online says that it has four holes, but there were only two. I gave this as a gift and didn't notice till my friend unwrapped it that it had only two holes. I offered to return it, but he said that was okay. You need to change your description and make sure you're sending the correct item!

I didn't like this plastic filter cone because it has the water drains very fast. I bought a different brand and it only has one small hole so it takes a little bit longer to drain but coffee tastes better.

Filter had about 4 holes and coffee comes out too fast for me. I prefer the Melitta filter in stead

It is certainly a handy way to make a cup. However, I have realized that (for me, anyway) it takes a lot more coffee to get the flavor I want as the coffee runs thru the holes very quickly. I had one years ago that had much smaller holes and produced a better tasting cup with less coffee. Overall, it makes a nice, clean tasting cup of brew. I just wish they had made the drip holes smaller. I have discovered that if I pour the heated water thru more slowly it helps bring out the flavor. JD
