    This cable connects from any USB port (on a computer, in a car, or from a plug-in adapter) to the DC charger plug on my Archos 70 tablet. At 18" long, it's a bit on the short side, but I use one of the various USB extension cables I own to get around this short coming.

    I've used it for a few weeks with some interesting results. When connected to a USB port on my laptop, my Archos' battery actually continues to be used up - although at a slower pace. That's because my laptop's USB ports don't provide enough current (i.e. amperage) to charge the battery. This is true of almost all laptop USB ports.

    When plugged into a car charger, I can charge the battery on my Archos - as long as the charger puts out at least 2.0 amps of current. Many car chargers for mobile phones are rated only at 0.7 amps, so they'll either slow the battery's drain or perhaps even keep it from draining while in use, but they won't increase the battery's charge no matter how long I have the tablet hooked up.

    Like car chargers, many outlet/AC USB adapters don't put out enough current to charge my tablet. Just like the car chargers, if they put out at least 2 amps the battery will actually recharge. Less than that and the speed at which the battery loses its charge will slow down, but it the battery won't recharge.

    Bottom line: check your charger's amp output. This cable is great, but it won't recharge the battery on your Archos tablet if your charger is weak (i.e. output is less than 2.0 amps).

When purchasing from niceeshop, beware that they are shipping from Hong Kong (via USPS), so you won't be getting this right away. I got mine after about 2.5 weeks, which was shorter than the estimated delivery time of 1 month. However, this is a nice and very cheap replacement, so go ahead if you're willing to wait.

    I have purchased this cable to provide additional power for external 2.5" hard drives. These drives usually comes with a single ended USB cable but on some computers/laptops a single USB outlet can not provide enough current for the drive.

    Although the cable fits the description, has USB connector on one end and a 3.5mm barrel jack on the other and, what the specification doesn't tell you is that the cable and the wires within it are so thin that it can not provide enough current without significant voltage drop.

    The result is that it can not provide sufficient voltage/current for an external hard drive. An external 2.5" hard drive requires 5V and 500mA.

    It is probably OK for low power consumption devices such an MP3 player so I gave 3 stars. Unfortunatly it did not work for me.

    FYI: In case you wonder wheter this cable has the correct polarity for your device, the center connector on the 3.5mm jack is the positive and the outer connector is the negative.

    i emailed to seller 3 times and waited about 7 days already for a response but have not received one. The cord i purchased does not power my express card that has a 5v 3.5mm jack. I have a similar cord with the same exact tip and it works fine. It just doesnt seem to get enough power that i need for my express card to power up the rest of the drives. Was looking for a cheaper alternative but the seller has not gotten back to me. I am not sure if it is defective or it is just not powerful enough.
