Okay, people seem to have confused what this is supposed to do. It DOESN'T hook up game systems to a monitor. I tried with both a SNES and a PS3 with composite, s-video, and both at the same time. I even tried different combinations of the audio ports with it to see if it would make a difference. I got NOTHING.
So then I tried outputting from my laptop to a TV. Still nothing.
Apparently, this cable is specifically designed for specific computers that have the specific ability to output an S-video/composite signal through the VGA port. This cable does NOT change a composite/S-video signal to VGA or vice versa.
I'm not sure if there are a lot of trolls reviewing this, or if they just have specific monitors that allow an S-video or composite signal to come through VGA. This is useless unless you REALLY know what you're doing.

Unfortunately, you're going to have to pay over $15 in order to hook up a console to a monitor.

doesn't work on HDTV VGA inputs.

I bought this in an attempt to upgrade the video quality of my gamecube on my 32" vizio hdtv.

the tv doesn't have an s-video input, and I wasn't willing to fork out the cash for the component cable that is so rare these days, so I was hoping to use the vga input in my tv(which in itself does work for sure, I've used it) as a sort of work around to at least get the s-video quality.

it didn't work. I don't know exactly why, but the tv said that there was no power connected and it was shutting off, which is basically what it says when nothings plugged in at all. I even tried several different combinations of cables thinking that for some reason it might be the issue, but still nothing.

the cable itself came very quickly, appears to be made of good quality equipment, and to my knowledge should still connect to a normal monitor just fine. that's is why I gave it 4 stars.

I'll probably still use this if I ever travel around, it can essentially hook up to any system that has a set of composite cables, so there's no reason not to just grab a monitor and play anywhere.

i thought I would be able to do output the signal to my TV. Thankfully now they have changed the wording on the description to indicate this is not so in most cases- it wasn't listed when I bought mine however.

Utterly Worthless - Didn't Work

I read the reviews - mostly bad and complaining that you can't use this to hook a laptop to a TV - and saw some success or comments about hooking up a game system to a monitor. Well, PS3 + this cable + LCD monitor = nothing. I've resorted to using a 1985 TV, small 13'' tube, as my gaming device for my small room instead (did require an RF modulator, but that worked).

Anyways, don't buy this. It doesn't work for laptop to TV conversion nor Game System to LCD conversion.

Did not work for Wii to monitor

I tried connecting Wii to 2 different monitors with no success. Neither monitor was able to detect the vga connection from the Wii, and the monitors work with the computer. I don't understand why this adapter has audio jacks going into a vga connection; the red & white jacks must just deadend. I tried every permutation of red white yellow to red white yellow, just in case...no luck. Turned Wii on and off, monitors on and off, nothing helped.

I bought a separate adapter (not from these guys) to connect the Wii red & white audio rca jacks to a headphone jack that my computer speakers can plug in to, and that works fine. So I have sound but no image.

Even with all the bad reviews, I took a gamble...and lost $5.

Does not work under any circumstance!

I bought this cable knowing it had bad reviews and knowing that is was supposed to allow me to plug an RCA input signal (like an xbox) into a VGA out signal (to be plugged into an external computer monitor). Maybe, if I was lucky I would be able to get it to work from my laptop to a TV as well. I received my product (which does NOT weigh 3 lbs) and tried connecting my old Xbox to my computer monitor. Got no signal, so I plugged to xbox into a tv and it worked fine. I tested this product using 3 consoles, all of which worked on a tv, and two different monitors. NEVER did I get any signal of any kind going to my monitor. As a last resort, I tried going out of my laptop and into my tv. Utter failure. This product does not work in ANY scenario. Not only is it mislabeled (by saying it will take a PC out to a TV) but it doesnt even do what is it actually supposed to do, connect a RCA out to a VGA in. Beyond that, Shipping took 3 and a half weeks, and they charged me shipping for a 3 lb item that only weighs 3 ounces! I have lost my faith in this company and in humanity...

Piece of Junk

We tried this stupid thing on EVERY TV in our home, and we are very electronically intelligent. This piece of junk is broken, not even worth the few cents it cost to make it. And then when we were ready to return it, we realized that since we threw away the envelope it was mailed in we can't return it. I find it ridiculous that the buyer can't accept the receipt, and has to have the original yellow envelope. If you're looking for a piece of junk and to waste your money, then hopefully you'll waste it on this seller. NEVER going to buy again from this seller.
